Mobile World Investment Corporation (MWG) has just announced its business results for the first two months of the year. Accordingly, the company achieved VND21,613 billion in revenue, up 14% over the same period last year, completing 17% of the yearly plan.
Among the product groups, Bach Hoa Xanh is having the highest growth rate at The Gioi Di Dong. In the first two months of the year, this chain reached 6,095 billion VND, an increase of 47% over the same period in 2023. On average, each Bach Hoa Xanh store achieved 1.8 billion VND in revenue despite not operating enough days in February due to Tet holiday. With this revenue level, the chain has reached the break-even point as previously expected.
According to Mr. Pham Van Trong - CEO of Bach Hoa Xanh, the growth momentum of the chain comes from both fresh food and fast-moving consumer goods with increases of 70% and 40% respectively compared to the same period last year. Early planning to prepare goods sources, warehouse systems, plus good control of logistics costs have helped this chain improve business results.
Although the The Gioi Di Dong and Topzone chains grew slowly, they still made efforts in the first two months of the year when the number of stores was lower than before. Specifically, these two chains recorded revenue of VND4,582 billion, while the Dien May Xanh chain reached VND10,309 billion, an increase of about 3% over the same period.
At the end of February, MWG had 1,077 The Gioi Di Dong/Top zone stores, 2,189 Dien May Xanh stores, 1,698 Bach Hoa Xanh stores, 526 An Khang pharmacies, 64 AVAKids stores and 53 Erablue stores in Indonesia.
Last year, MWG's revenue reached nearly VND118,300 billion thanks to its "low-price strategy" in the second half of the year. But the company's after-tax profit fell by 96%, to only nearly VND168 billion - the lowest level in 10 years.
This year, Mobile World aims to increase revenue by 5% to VND125,000 billion, while profit increases by more than 14 times, expected to reach VND2,400 billion.
