Robusta coffee inventories tracked by ICE fell to 4,249 lots, the lowest in six weeks, at the start of this week. In contrast, arabica stocks rose to a four-week high of more than 790,000 bags.

Consulting firm Safras & Mercado forecasts that Brazil’s coffee output in 2025 could be slightly higher than previously estimated. However, farmers have only sold about 14% of the crop, below the long-term average of 25%, due to many uncertainties, especially weather and unclear price trends.

Some traders believe that Arabica coffee prices could recover and fluctuate around $3.60 to $3.80 per pound this week, as concerns about tight supplies continue to dominate the market.

World coffee prices today

Coffee prices on the world market continue to increase sharply on both exchanges:

Robusta Coffee (London):

Delivery in May 2025: Up 19 USD/ton, to 5,392 USD/ton.

July 2025 delivery: Up 12 USD/ton, to 5,352 USD/ton.

Arabica Coffee (New York):

May 2025 delivery: Up 5.35 cents/lb, to 374.75 cents/lb.

July 2025 delivery: Up 5.3 cents/lb, to 372.45 cents/lb.

The weakening US dollar is also supporting coffee prices. The Dollar Index has fallen to 99.64 – near a three-year low – helping to trigger a wave of short covering and push coffee prices higher.

In Brazil, scattered rains fell last week, with some areas recording up to 30mm. The weather forecast is for drier weather in the coming days, but rain is likely to return next week. Temperatures in coffee-growing regions are expected to remain between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius as the Southern Hemisphere winter approaches.

Brazil is also about to enter the robusta coffee harvest. Robusta coffee trading in the domestic market is starting to become active again, and trading volume is expected to increase sharply in the coming time.

However, market sentiment remains cautious due to concerns that the global trade war could impact economic growth and reduce coffee consumption in the medium term.
