According to Neowin , the document leads to a page that links to instructions titled "Turn off, disable, or uninstall OneDrive." While the support document itself isn't new, Microsoft made a few updates to it earlier this year, and one of them is noteworthy.

DMA is the reason Microsoft had to make the change

First, the company has added a separate section to talk about unlinking OneDrive, which the company says is the easiest solution for those who don't want to use OneDrive.

Second, if Windows 10/11 users really want to uninstall OneDrive, they can now select the Start button, then type Programs in the search box and select Add or remove programs from the list of results. Under Apps & features , find and select Microsoft OneDrive before selecting Uninstall . If prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, the user will need to enter the password or provide confirmation.

The change is said to be the result of updates to comply with the European Union's (EU) Digital Markets Act (DMA), which came into effect on March 6. Microsoft announced its plans to comply with the EU law in November last year. At the time, Microsoft said that to comply with the DMA regulations, it had adjusted Windows 11 for users in the European Economic Area (EEA). Users will be able to uninstall core software like Edge and Bing, as well as some software that comes with pre-installed apps, and can disable recommendations and advertising content.
