DNVN - From 2025, Meta will expand production of Quest 3S Mixed Reality devices in Vietnam. Meta's investment plan in Vietnam also extends to the field of AI innovation, and will soon pilot Meta AI in Vietnamese, allowing Meta's AI tools to reach users in local languages.

Mr. Nick Clegg, President of Global Public Affairs, Meta Group, paid a working visit to Vietnam on September 30 and October 1 to promote Meta's commitment to innovation and digital transformation in Vietnam.

During the trip, Mr. Nick Clegg met with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of ministries and sectors, participated in dialogues with the student and business communities, and emphasized Meta's commitment to supporting Vietnam's development to become the leading digital economy in Southeast Asia.

The meeting between Mr. Nick Clegg and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh focused on key areas, including enhancing economic and trade cooperation, promoting the development of artificial intelligence (AI), and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises. Mr. Nick Clegg expressed his appreciation for the support of the Vietnamese Government in facilitating Meta’s contribution to the country’s digital transformation goals. In addition, he also shared Meta’s plans to expand its support targets for Vietnam, especially in the manufacturing sector.

Mr. Nick Clegg, President of Global Public Affairs, Meta Group.

“Vietnam continues to be an important country for Meta. Millions of Vietnamese small businesses and consumers are using our platform to connect with new customers, engage with friends and family, and contribute to their local communities. We are committed to supporting Vietnam’s digital leadership through the Government’s Industry 4.0 initiative. By unlocking growth opportunities and delivering innovative products, Meta aims to contribute to the country’s economic prosperity and empower businesses to thrive in the digital age,” said Nick Clegg.

On this occasion, Mr. Nick Clegg also announced Meta's investment plan in Vietnam. From 2025, Meta will expand production of Quest 3S Mixed Reality devices in Vietnam. This decision emphasizes the increasingly important role of Vietnam in Meta's manufacturing ecosystem. The expansion plan is expected to create up to 1,000 jobs and contribute millions of USD to the Vietnamese economy.

Meta’s investment plans in Vietnam also extend to AI innovation. As part of its global AI strategy, Meta will soon launch a pilot of Meta AI in Vietnamese, allowing Meta’s AI tools to reach users in local languages. AI for businesses on Messenger has been piloted in Vietnam since June 2024 and will be officially launched later this year.

These initiatives are part of a broader effort to support Vietnamese businesses and developers in harnessing the potential of AI and using the technology to grow and innovate. Meta’s ongoing partnership with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-Hanoi) is a testament to this commitment, with an AI credit training course for students scheduled to launch in March 2025. The program will upskill teachers and students in using AI products and experiences safely and responsibly.

Meta’s commitment to promoting the development of AI is also demonstrated through Meta’s role as a strategic partner and co-organizer with the Ministry of Planning and Investment at the Vietnam Innovation Challenge 2024. The program has affirmed the important role of AI in Vietnam’s economic development strategy, in line with Meta’s goal of nurturing knowledge-based economies.

Through cooperation with domestic organizations and talents, Meta hopes to support Vietnam to become a leading country in AI development both regionally and globally.
