The "Godmother" program implemented by the Women's Union of Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police since 2022 has taken care of and sponsored 40 excellent students with difficult circumstances and orphans in the province.

With a support level of 300 - 500 thousand VND/month and a commitment to support until the children finish high school and turn 18, the "Godmother" program has become a support to help children overcome adversity, strive to study, and strive to become useful citizens for society.

Nguyen Xuan Thien An (residing in Tu Ha ward, Huong Tra town, Thua Thien Hue province) lost both parents at a young age and is currently living with her uncle, so An's path to school has become more bumpy and difficult. Upon hearing the news, the "Godmothers" of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police Women's Association opened their arms of love, took care of, helped and supported An step by step to overcome difficulties.

An confided that her parents died early, making her life more difficult now that the people who raised her are no longer around. In particular, the risk of her dropping out of school is getting closer. “I am very happy to be cared for, supported, taken care of and given the opportunity to go to school by the police officers. I promise to study hard so as not to disappoint the teachers who have cared for me,” An shared.

Similarly, Ho Gia Bao (living in Sia town, Quang Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province) has an extremely difficult situation. His father died when he was very young, and his mother later abandoned him. After that, Bao was raised and cared for by his grandparents, but now both grandparents are old and often sick, so Bao's life has become even more difficult.

Realizing that Bao's situation was still difficult, the Women's Association of Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police took care of Bao until he turned 18, hoping to give him more confidence and determination to continue on his path to school and his future.

Bao shared that she was very lucky to receive attention and support from the women at the Provincial Police Women's Association, not only materially but also regularly encouraging her mentally. "They have helped me have more motivation to study, not to be discouraged or retreat in the face of difficulties and adversities," Bao confided.

According to the Women's Union of Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police, in order for the "Godmother" program to spread strongly, the unit has organized many practical programs to mobilize the participation of all levels of women's unions, as well as philanthropists to join hands in sponsoring, supporting, caring for and raising orphans in localities across the province.

Lieutenant Colonel Ho Thi Kim Hue - Deputy Head of the Women's Committee of Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police said that after nearly 2 years of implementation, the "Godmother" program has received consensus and high response from all levels of the association. In the coming time, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Police Women's Association and the grassroots associations will continue to implement the program, striving to complete the target of each association adopting at least 1 orphan.

The practical and meaningful activities that the Women's Union of Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police at all levels has implemented in recent times have contributed to spreading and building a beautiful image of the police officer as "brave, humane, serving the people"; consolidating and tightening the solidarity and attachment between the police force and the people.
