Manchester United becomes 'graveyard' of strikers

Since Sir Alex Ferguson left, Manchester United have not maintained the dominance of their golden age, especially in the attacking areas.

Hojlund has not shown his value at MU.

One of the biggest problems facing the club is their lack of goalscoring ability, or in other words, their failure to find quality strikers. Despite many great strikers arriving at Old Trafford over the past decade, none of them have been able to maintain their form and bring Manchester United back to the top.

A "graveyard" for strikers

Manchester United used to be the go-to destination for top strikers. The likes of Andrew Cole, Dwight Yorke, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Teddy Sheringham formed a legendary attacking trio, helping the team win a series of major trophies. Back then, every striker could score goals with ease and play with great confidence. However, since Sir Alex Ferguson left, things have changed.

In fact, Old Trafford is no longer a place to welcome talented strikers. Instead, this team has become a "graveyard" for strikers, where new strikers gradually lose their ability to score goals. Big stars from all over the world have come here, but none of them can make the mark as expected.

Since Ferguson’s final season, Manchester United have spent heavily on strikers to help the club recover and regain trophies. However, despite signing a host of big names, from Anthony Martial and Romelu Lukaku to Alexis Sanchez and Radamel Falcao, none of them have really shone at Old Trafford.

Despite promising starts, all of these strikers have had major problems maintaining their form. Injuries, lack of confidence or a lack of tactical fit have seen them fade into obscurity. Even Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo, two of the standout performers of recent years, have failed to help United regain their attacking prowess after impressive starts.

Despite receiving expectations, Hojlund lacks the stability to shine at MU.

It is also necessary to mention strikers like Odion Ighalo and Wout Weghorst, players who were expected to help the team improve the attack. However, they were also quickly left behind when they could not contribute significantly to the team's achievements.

The biggest problem Ruben Amorim faced

Amid the continued failures of the old strikers, coach Ruben Amorim was tasked with rebuilding the team. However, the biggest challenge he faced was finding a striker who could actually score goals.

Amorim is well aware that his team cannot continue to suffer a goal deficit. Against Nottingham Forest, despite dominating the game and having 23 shots, they failed to score. This is a problem that Manchester United have faced all season, having had plenty of chances but failing to capitalise.

In fact, Amorim also faces a bigger challenge in finding a striker who can turn things around. Viktor Gyokeres has been linked with Manchester United. However, the player is also hesitant about joining a club with a poor history of strikers.

Gyokeres' previous relationship with Amorim may be an attractive factor, but given Manchester United's history, the player will certainly have to think twice. Arsenal, Bayern Munich or PSG are probably more attractive options in terms of winning trophies and furthering his career.

MU's attack has played very badly this season.

Meanwhile, a ray of hope is coming from young talent Chido Obi-Martin, who has just joined from Arsenal. This is a player with great prospects and could become a star in the future. However, to be able to fully develop Obi-Martin's potential, coach Amorim needs to change the environment around the strikers at Old Trafford, avoiding him falling into the quagmire that many previous strikers have encountered.

But to do that, Amorim will have to make a drastic change in tactics and the way he uses attacking players. Only then can Manchester United find a striker who can score goals and really contribute to the team's overall performance.

Manchester United face a major problem in finding and developing strikers. The team has spent a lot of money to bring in attacking stars, but the results have been disappointing. Amorim will have a tough task in rebuilding the attack and finding a striker who can really help the team regain its glory. If this problem is not solved, Manchester United may continue to struggle hopelessly and cannot compete with the top teams both domestically and in Europe.
