The paragliding competition was held to commemorate the sacrifice of the heroic martyrs at the 995 high point - Chu Tan Kra in the heroic battle in 1968.
This is the third time the paragliding competition has been held in Kon Tum.
The landing of a paraglider pilot
From early morning, thousands of people in Kon Tum province gathered at the Chu Tan Kra Memorial to wait for the performance of the pilots in the sky. At around 9 am, the Kon Tum paragliding competition began with the Para Moto performance (a parachute with an engine, raising flags, releasing smoke).
First pilot to complete long-distance paragliding flight
The parachutes, equipped with engines, flew from the district center and slowly approached the memorial. Once there, the pilots controlled the parachutes to hover back and forth. From the sky, red flags with yellow stars fluttered in the air.

Hot weather also affects the performance of pilots.
At the same time, from the 995 high point, the pilots also started to enter the competition. The parachutes took off from the high point and headed towards the finish line at the memorial. In just a moment, the sky of Chu Tan Kra was filled with colorful parachutes.
It is currently the dry season, the weather is quite hot so it affects the pilots' performance.
Mr. Do Cao Cuong, a pilot participating in the XC paragliding category, said that this was the second time he participated in a paragliding competition in Sa Thay. According to Mr. Cuong, Sa Thay is a good place to conduct long-distance flights.
The audience attentively watched the pilots' performance.
"Sa Thay is one of the best long-distance paragliding destinations in Vietnam. Flying here, pilots can see vast forests. Especially from above, you can see Chu Mom Ray National Park with forests stretching as far as the eye can see," said Mr. Cuong.
