Recently, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, wrote a letter to teachers and students of the school on the occasion of the new school year. In the letter, Prof. Hoang Anh Tuan expressed that Typhoon Yagi disrupted the opening ceremony and welcoming new students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

“Like the students, the teachers are truly regretful about a warm annual event of the school, which was supposed to take place on the occasion of the full moon in August this year. However, the regret is just a fleeting feeling. It is quickly replaced by the warmth of humanity with thoughtful greetings and timely donations, for the sake of 'national love, compatriots' as Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called for.”

Therefore, the principal said that the school decided to cancel the opening ceremony, the budget of 200 million VND will be sent to people in flood-affected areas through the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Hanoi National University; 348 million VND will be sent to 116 students facing difficulties due to storms and floods; more than 1 billion VND sponsored by partners for students on the occasion of the new school year will continue to be considered by the school and granted to students with excellent academic achievements, policy beneficiaries, and students in difficult circumstances...

The welcoming party for new students will be moved to a more appropriate time, when the university atmosphere is more familiar.
