This is a cultural event towards the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024), organized by the Hanoi Literature and Arts Association in coordination with the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports and the Hanoi Cinema Association.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Hanoi Literature and Arts Association, People's Artist Tran Quoc Chiem, affirmed that the Festival is a typical cultural event of the capital's artists in general, a place where short films about Hanoi converge with unique styles and diverse cinematic languages, expressing a new, creative and colorful perspective on the land and people of Hanoi, a thousand years of civilization.

"With the desire to discover and honor the authors and works of Hanoi cinema, we hope that the Hanoi Short Film Festival will have many works that win high prizes, enter life, contribute to building elegant and civilized Hanoians; thereby, fostering patriotism, national pride; overcoming limitations in communication and behavior..." - People's Artist Tran Quoc Chiem emphasized.
According to Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Tran Thi Van Anh, the 2024 Hanoi Short Film Festival is the result of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports and the Hanoi Literature and Arts Association in implementing Program 06-CTr/TU of the Hanoi Party Committee on cultural development, improving the quality of human resources, building elegant and civilized Hanoians in the period of 2021-2025; Resolution No. 09-NQ/TU dated February 22, 2022 of the City Party Committee on developing cultural industries in the capital for the period of 2021-2025, orientation to 2030, vision to 2045.
At the same time, this is also an opportunity for Hanoi cinema artists to demonstrate their talent and responsibility, creating cinematic works that closely follow the breath of life, promoting the image of the Capital of Culture - Civilization - Modernity.
The 2024 Hanoi Short Film Festival attracted 32 entries, including 20 documentaries, 10 animations and 2 short films. At the closing and award ceremony held on the evening of August 28, the Organizing Committee will present 11 awards to honor the authors of outstanding works participating in the Film Festival.
The jury of the Hanoi Short Film Festival are veteran film artists.
Within the framework of the film festival, the Hanoi Cinema Association organized seminars on cinema and short film production; screened and introduced international short films and domestic short films made by Hanoi cinema artists.
The Festival's jury consists of veteran film artists, promising to bring in-depth and impartial assessments to the entries.
With a diversity of genres and themes, the 2024 Hanoi Short Film Festival is expected to bring audiences new and profound perspectives on the thousand-year-old capital, while promoting the development of the Hanoi film industry in particular and the country in general./.
