Match schedule and live broadcast of Vietnam team

The matches of the Vietnamese team at the 2023 Asian Cup Finals (held in Qatar) will be broadcast live on FPT Play and channels VTV5, VTV Can Tho and VTV5 Southwest.

The 2023 Asian Cup finals in Qatar will officially kick off from January 12 to February 10, with the participation of 24 of the best teams in Asia.

This is also the 5th Asian Cup in history that the Vietnamese team has the honor of participating in. At the biggest football festival in the continent, the Vietnamese team is in Group D with the teams of Japan, Iraq and Indonesia.

The group stage is considered not easy for coach Philippe Troussier and his team in the race to advance, with the presence of two very strong teams, Japan and Iraq.

Japan is the "record holder" of the Asian Cup with 4 championships and is the brightest candidate for the championship in this year's tournament.

Meanwhile, Iraq is also highly regarded. This team was crowned champion of the 2007 Asian Cup - a tournament co-hosted by four Southeast Asian countries: Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia.

According to the match schedule, the Vietnamese team will soon face the biggest challenge when meeting the Japanese team in the opening match.

This match will take place at Al Thumama Stadium at 6:30 p.m. on January 14 (Vietnam time) - the stadium was one of the 8 venues for the 2022 World Cup, with a unique design inspired by the traditional taqiyah hat of host Qatar.

In the second match, the "Golden Star Warriors" will face the Indonesian team at 9:30 p.m. on January 19 at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.

According to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), this match has special significance because it is the first time two Southeast Asian teams have met at the Asian Cup.

AFC also said that the match between Vietnam and Indonesia is one of the 5 most anticipated matches in the group stage of the 2023 Asian Cup.

Five days after the match against Indonesia, the Vietnamese team will conclude its journey in the group stage of the 2023 Asian Cup with a match against Iraq at 6:30 p.m. on January 24, at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.

Vietnam Television ( VTV ) will broadcast live matches at the 2023 Asian Cup on channels VTV5 , VTV Can Tho and VTV5 Southwest as well as the VTVGo application.

Meanwhile, fans can also watch matches at the 2023 Asian Cup on FPT Play - the unit that fully owns the television copyright for tournaments under the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) system for 4 consecutive years from 2021-2024, including the 2023 Asian Cup.

Previously, to prepare for the 2023 Asian Cup, the teams in Group D also had an important warm-up with friendly matches before the tournament. However, not all teams had the best results.

The Japanese team affirmed its position as the number 1 team in Asia with consecutive convincing victories. They defeated Thailand 5-0 and Jordan 6-1.

This result helped the Japanese team extend their winning streak to 10 matches - the longest in the history of the "Samurai Blue." Notably, this record was set by Japan very impressively when their defeated opponents included highly rated teams such as Peru, Germany and Türkiye.

None of Japan's three opponents in Group D have won. Indonesia is the team that lost all three friendlies, against Libya and Iran.

Indonesia lost 0-4 and 1-2 in two matches against Libya and most recently lost 0-5 to Iran.

Iraq did not win either, but a 0-1 defeat to South Korea was acceptable.

Meanwhile, the Vietnamese team had its only friendly match with the Kyrgyzstan team and lost 1-2.
