Launching ceremony of APEC 2027 Summit Week preparation

Kinhtedothi - On the afternoon of March 14, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha attended the launching ceremony of preparations for the APEC 2027 Summit Week in Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang Province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha said that hosting APEC 2027 is both a great honor, a sacred responsibility and a heavy task.

At the same time, this is also a special, unique opportunity to help Phu Quoc affirm its position as one of the most beautiful “tourist paradises” on the planet, demonstrating its ability to organize world-class events. From there, it creates an unprecedented driving force for Phu Quoc to develop.

"In preparation for the APEC 2027 Summit Week, Kien Giang province has made great efforts to carry out many tasks assigned by the Government Standing Committee, achieving certain results that deserve recognition," the Deputy Prime Minister assessed.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested Kien Giang province and Phu Quoc city to continue to strictly implement the direction of the Government Standing Committee on preparations for hosting the APEC Summit Week 2027, considering this a particularly important political task.

Kien Giang province and Phu Quoc city need to proactively coordinate closely with ministries and branches to develop programs, scenarios, and plans to implement tasks with the common requirement of organizing the APEC 2027 summit week with the highest standards, ensuring absolute security and safety, preparing all plans, and preparing all necessary conditions to ensure the success of the event.

"Urgently establish a Steering Committee to organize the APEC Summit Week and assign responsibilities to each member. Steering Committee members must proactively and actively follow the situation and progress according to assigned tasks." - The Deputy Prime Minister requested.

In addition, it is necessary to well carry out investment preparation and site clearance for key projects and works, and promptly hand over the site to facilitate the implementation of key projects and works serving the APEC 2027 Summit Week.

Kien Giang Province and Phu Quoc City need to clearly define their role as hosts to closely coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and domestic and international press and media agencies to develop tourism promotion programs, introducing to international friends a friendly and peaceful Vietnam, an innovative and developing Kien Giang, and especially, a beautiful, unique, attractive and environmentally friendly Phu Quoc pearl island.

"The Government, the Prime Minister, ministries, branches and localities will always accompany and stand side by side with Kien Giang and Phu Quoc to successfully organize the APEC 2027 Summit Week, leaving deep impressions in the hearts of international friends about a friendly, peaceful, dynamic, integrated and responsible Vietnam; about Phu Quoc as a beautiful, unique and attractive destination on the world tourism map," said the Deputy Prime Minister.

 

For Vietnam, APEC has supported the enhancement of economic reform capacity and regional integration, contributing to narrowing the development gap, creating the premise for Vietnam to participate in large playgrounds such as the World Trade Organization (WTO) and new-generation Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). This shows the importance of APEC to Vietnam's socio-economic development and international integration.

As a member of APEC, especially when hosting the Forum in 2006 and 2017, Vietnam has made important, positive and proactive contributions to the APEC Forum, contributing to promoting peace, stability, cooperation and regional economic connectivity. At the same time, it has also contributed to enhancing the country's position in the region and the world, contributing to promoting the image of the Vietnamese people and country.
