On the afternoon of November 25, Vice Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee Doan Thanh Son chaired a meeting with local functional agencies to review the progress of the pilot project to build smart border gates in Lang Son province.

According to the report, after the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 865/QD-TTg, dated August 17, 2024, approving the Pilot Project on building smart border gates on specialized freight transport routes in the area of ​​landmarks 1119 - 1120 and specialized freight transport routes in the area of ​​landmarks 1088/2 - 1089 belonging to the Huu Nghi border gate pair (Lang Son, Vietnam) - Huu Nghi Quan (Guangxi, China), Lang Son functional sectors have made efforts to carry out projects and tasks to quickly implement the project.

Regarding the expansion of the specialized road for import and export of goods in the area of ​​landmarks 119-1120, Lang Son province is expanding the road from 4 lanes to 6 lanes; the functional departments are advising and proposing to the People's Committee of Lang Son province to adjust the project of the goods transport road in the area of ​​landmarks 1119-1120 with a scale of 14 lanes.

Develop plans and mechanisms to attract investment from non-budgetary sources to invest in infrastructure, wharfs, and equipment for smart border gates. Organize an online signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on the mechanism for meeting and exchanging to jointly build a pilot smart border gate with Guangxi (China)

The volume of goods traded between Vietnam and China through Lang Son border gate has increased this year.

According to the People's Committee of Lang Son province, the locality is making efforts to develop a border gate economy. Since 2016, the Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone has attracted 154 projects, including 16 foreign investment projects (mainly in the fields of infrastructure construction and commercial centers) with a total investment capital of more than 87 million USD and 138 domestic investment projects with a total capital of more than 16,000 billion VND.

In addition to capital from the state budget, in recent years, Lang Son province has focused on calling for and mobilizing social capital from organizations and enterprises to invest in implementing projects in the border economic zone.

In the period from 2016 to 2023, the total social capital invested in Dong Dang - Lang Son border gate economic zone reached more than 60,000 billion VND invested in projects to upgrade and renovate infrastructure at border gates such as: Cargo transit area, duty-free zone and export processing zone; Huu Nghi international border gate interdisciplinary building and specialized import-export route through milestone 1119-1120 (Huu Nghi international border gate); upgrading and renovating Chi Ma border gate import-export route (Loc Binh district); specialized freight transport route at Tan Thanh border gate; upgrading Coc Nam joint control house (Van Lang district)...

Domestic and foreign enterprises are interested in projects to build wharfs at Huu Nghi border gate (Cao Loc district, Lang Son).

In particular, Lang Son province is currently implementing a project to build a smart border gate using unmanned import and export goods delivery with an estimated total cost of nearly VND8,000 billion. In the coming period, Lang Son province will continue to develop 12 border gates.
