On behalf of the Central Youth Union, Secretary of the Central Youth Union Nguyen Pham Duy Trang presented the decision to appoint Mr. Ngo Minh Hai as Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union for the 2022 - 2027 term.

Creating the character of young people in Ho Chi Minh City

Also attending and congratulating were Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Phuoc Loc and Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Manh Cuong and representatives of several departments of the City Party Committee.

Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc said the city leaders trust and have high expectations for the new Secretary of the City Youth Union and the city Youth Union organization.

Accordingly, it is necessary to research and understand the practical and legitimate needs of young people. These are studying, working, playing, connecting and asserting oneself. From those values, we can determine an overview to propose movements and activities related to the needs of young people.

Regarding the volunteer movement, Mr. Loc said that it is necessary to attract more young people to participate. Citing the story of preventing the COVID-19 epidemic, the Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee said that it was the solidarity and consensus of the government and the people that brought victory and overcame that unknown enemy.

"If we do useful work, the masses will support us. The Youth Union needs to pay attention when proposing new work, whether it is creative and meets the needs of young people. The Youth Union must guide young people, help them develop personally and contribute to the community," said Mr. Loc.

The Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee hopes that the City Youth Union will contribute to shaping and building a model of youth "with the character of a Ho Chi Minh City person".

According to Mr. Loc, young people are present in every field and corner of life, always being an enthusiastic pioneer force. And the character and personality of young people in Ho Chi Minh City is generosity, bravery, pioneering and loyalty.

Reality requires the Youth Union to gather, promote, and create an environment for young people to practice, contribute, rise up, and develop so that the value of youth is recognized. It is necessary to mobilize youth resources to contribute to the development of the unit, the city, and the Fatherland.

Sending expectations from the leading position

Ms. Nguyen Pham Duy Trang said that the Central Secretariat of the Youth Union highly appreciated the leading position of the Youth Union in Ho Chi Minh City, the origin of many youth movements nationwide.

The Central Youth Union asked the new Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union how to continue to concretize the 2024 work program and the targets assigned to the city.

Upon receiving the assignment, Mr. Ngo Minh Hai promised to make more efforts to lead the Youth Union and the youth movement of the city to further develop. At the same time, he continued to bring the activities of the City Youth Union to participate in the common development of Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition to continuing to carry out movements, activities, and targets of the Youth Union's work in 2024 and the 2022-2027 term, Mr. Hai said he would create conditions for the Youth Union to further develop.

"The City Youth Union will unite to overcome difficulties and focus on activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of national reunification," said Mr. Hai.

Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union Executive Committee conference elected Mr. Ngo Minh Hai as Secretary of the Youth Union for the 2022-2027 term with 100% of votes in agreement.

On this occasion, the Central Youth Union also presented a decision recognizing the results of the recent election of additional members to the Standing Committee, Executive Committee and Inspection Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union.
