On the morning of September 23, Ly Nhon Primary School (District 4) held a ceremony to welcome students back to school. This is the school whose roof was blown off on September 4, making it impossible to hold the opening ceremony for the new school year for more than 500 students.
On the first day back to school, all students expressed joy after more than 2 weeks of having to temporarily study at another school due to repairs following the roofing incident.
According to Principal Vu Diem Phuong, on the first day back to school, 543/548 students came to class.
The school organized games and gave pots of paper flowers with the words "Back to school" printed on them to students...
Teachers discussed school rules with students and gave them some instructions to ensure safety while the final renovations are being completed in the restroom area on the 3rd floor.
"Currently, all classrooms have returned to normal operation, ensuring safety for students. The restroom on the third floor is expected to be repaired by the end of this week," said a school representative.
Previously, on September 22, although it was a weekend, the staff of Ly Nhon Primary School went to the school to clean, decorate the rooms, and prepare pots of bougainvillea flowers to welcome students back to school.
According to SGGP Newspaper, on the morning of September 9, a working delegation led by comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, visited and encouraged the teaching staff of Ly Nhon Primary School (District 4) after the roof was blown off on the afternoon of September 4.
According to the Principal of Ly Nhon Primary School, on the afternoon of September 4, due to strong winds, the school's roof was blown off, and the ceiling collapsed in the hallway and classrooms on the 3rd floor.
Fortunately, at the time of the incident, there were no students at school and staff and teachers were gathered in the library for professional training, so there were no casualties. However, the facilities in the classrooms, the roof and the ceiling on the 3rd floor were seriously damaged.
The school quickly informed parents to temporarily stop students from going to school on September 5 and 6, 2024 to ensure student safety.
From September 9, students in grades 1, 2, 4, and 5 will be temporarily studying at Nguyen Van Troi Primary School, while students in grade 3 will temporarily study at Le Thanh Ton Primary School (also in District 4).
According to comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc, after the roofing incident, the most important thing is not to interrupt students' studies.
Comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc highly appreciated the timely response of the school board in fully informing parents to avoid creating panic. After completing the repairs, the school organized joyful activities to welcome students back to school.
