General Nguyen Chi Thanh Museum at 81 Tan Nhue, Thuy Phuong Ward, Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi opens to visitors from today (July 6).

The opening ceremony of the General Nguyen Chi Thanh Museum took place on the occasion of the 56th anniversary of the General's death (July 6, 1967 - July 6, 2023) and towards the 110th anniversary of his birth (January 1, 1914 - January 1, 2024). This is a non-public museum, owned by the late General's family.
Speaking at the ceremony, Colonel Pham Van Phi, Director of the General Nguyen Chi Thanh Museum, said that the architectural design of the museum was based on the prototype of the house at 34 Ly Nam De, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi, from the memories of the General's family members with many profound memories that the General and his family lived in from 1958 to 1986.

At this house, General Nguyen Chi Thanh's family was honored to welcome President Ho Chi Minh many times. Notably, a Politburo meeting took place here in August 1964 to discuss the campaign to liberate the South and unify the country.

Regarding the structure of the Museum's exhibition content, in addition to the celebration space, the two recreated spaces also have 8 main themes: Homeland - Central Revolution; Viet Bac; Building the Army; Building peace in the North; Southern Revolution; July 6; The hearts of those who stay; Family - The continuing journey.

The museum consists of two recreated spaces, including the General's working hut at the Central Office of Southern Vietnam and the General's former working room at 34 Ly Nam De. In addition, the museum space also has sub-themes such as Binh Tri Thien in Fire and Smoke, Agriculture, Foreign Affairs, Guerrilla General, Culture and Arts, Sports, Fighting for Peace...

The exhibition system introduces 300 photos, 220 artifacts, more than 150 paper documents and artifacts, and 23 bronze statues associated with important milestones in the revolutionary activities of General Nguyen Chi Thanh.
The library at the Museum has over 100 books written by General Nguyen Chi Thanh and other authors about the General, and 6 documentaries about his background, life and career.

Comrade Vu Ha, Secretary of the Bac Tu Liem District Party Committee, affirmed that the construction of the General Nguyen Chi Thanh museum in Hanoi shows the affection of the Party Committee, government and people of the capital in general and Bac Tu Liem District in particular for the great contributions of the General in the two long resistance wars against France and the US.

The event also witnessed the signing ceremony of educational cooperation between General Nguyen Chi Thanh Museum and the Academy of Politics of the Ministry of National Defense, Vietnam Military History Museum, Bac Tu Liem District Education Department, Air Defense - Air Force Service, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi).

From now until December 2023, the Museum will collect comments from scientists, state management agencies and visitors to complete the exhibition content before organizing the inauguration on January 1, 2024 to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the General's birthday.
| The General Nguyen Chi Thanh Museum in Thua Thien Hue was licensed to operate by the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province from June 2, 2022 and inaugurated on July 22, 2022. It has been operating very effectively for about a year now. As of June 2023, the Museum has welcomed and served nearly 8,000 visitors, contributing to other cultural institutions in Thua Thien Hue in doing a good job of promoting traditional history to the public. |
