Highlight local strengths
Reporting on the preparations for the congress, Mr. Nguyen Tiec Hung, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang province, said that the commune-level Front congress will end in mid-April 2024, and the district-level congress will end on May 29, 2024.
According to Mr. Hung, the process of drafting the Document was carried out in accordance with the outline of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee. The Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee has issued a document introducing personnel for consultation and election to the positions of Chairman of the Provincial Front and 2 Vice Chairmen of the Provincial Front for the 2024-2029 term. The vacancy of 1 Vice Chairman will be filled after the congress.
The province has prepared over 20 presentations, with 11 units speaking at the congress. The congress is expected to have 448 delegates. The congress is expected to take place on June 25-26, 2024, or the schedule may be changed to suit the actual situation.
Mr. Le Van Nung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of An Giang province, informed that the province will try to arrange as much as possible before and after the congress of the Front to help the programs succeed. Mr. Le Van Nung said that he will propose that the Front include suggestions and contributions in the congress documents so that the upcoming action program can achieve the highest efficiency.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairwoman To Thi Bich Chau said that the preparations for the An Giang Provincial Front Congress were quite thoughtful and elaborate; although the province was facing some difficulties, especially regarding the issue of personnel being selected selectively and with quality.
According to Ms. To Thi Bich Chau, in the political report, the province has listed the activities in the past term. However, the description is still limited, not fully showing the achievements of the Front in the past 5 years; as well as the description of the activities of member organizations is still modest. "An Giang is a province strong in agriculture but the document does not clearly state this, for example, how many farmers have become rich from production", Ms. To Thi Bich Chau said.
Ms. To Thi Bich Chau suggested that it is necessary to call for more intellectuals, scientists to develop the province together; select outstanding and typical members to join the Front. Besides, it is necessary to evaluate and look back at the achievements after nearly 40 years of renovation, what the province has done, and what role the Front has contributed to those achievements.
Showing the stature of the Front
Regarding the preparation for the Ben Tre Provincial Congress, Ms. Dang Thi Phuong, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, said that so far, the basic work has been completed, including organizing many sessions to provide comments on the Congress documents to relevant agencies and all classes of people.
Regarding the personnel of the new term Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; The Provincial Front Standing Committee has developed a personnel plan for the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Congress, consisting of 95 members. There are 9 full-time staff of the Provincial Front, including the Chairman who is a member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, 3 Vice Chairmen, and 5 Standing Committee members.
The congress is scheduled for August 1-2, 2024 at the Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee Hall. There are 480 delegates attending.
Regarding the implementation of works to welcome the congress, Ms. Phuong said that the Fatherland Front at all levels in the province has carried out over 100 works and tasks, worth over 40 billion VND. In particular, localities in the province have implemented the "flag-lined" route to welcome the congresses at all levels in the province with socialized funding. At the same time, from January 2024 to present, the organization has coordinated to launch and respond to the movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" and organized the handover of 503 Great Solidarity houses.
Mr. Tran Thanh Lam, Standing Deputy Secretary of Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee, informed that Ben Tre province has seriously carried out the preparation work for the congress, considering this work an important political task. Up to now, the Front at all levels from commune to district level has completed the congress work.... In the past time, the province has actively contributed ideas and built the political report.
“Through listening to the guidance of Ms. To Thi Bich Chau and the comments of the delegates, we feel the responsibility, dedication and entrustment of the Central Front to the preparation of the local congress. In the process of improving ourselves, we will report back with the aim of preparing for the congress, as well as orienting the upcoming tasks of the Front to be most effective,” Mr. Lam emphasized.
Speaking at the working session with Ben Tre province, Vice President To Thi Bich Chau expressed her joy because the preparations for the congress were very thoughtful, especially the complete and harmonious personnel structure.
One of the factors that Ms. To Thi Bich Chau highly appreciated was that the Front's structure had a representative, the Chairman of a billionaire farmers' club. "This shows the attention of the Party and the close implementation of the Provincial Front; demonstrating the Front's good role in advising on preparations for the congress," Ms. To Thi Bich Chau affirmed.
Another difference that Vice Chairwoman To Thi Bich Chau highly appreciated was that the province has structured the Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Front to be a member of the Provincial Party Committee, which is rare compared to the personnel structure of the Front in other localities. This proves that the province highly appreciates the role of the Front.
Vice President To Thi Bich Chau hopes that the Document should highlight more clearly the achievements of the province in the past 40 years of renovation. This part should clearly state: What Ben Tre has done, how the Front participated in those achievements, what are the characteristics of the province; the outstanding movements, who initiated them. At the same time, forecast the upcoming situation, difficulties and advantages. From there, there will be specific solutions for the next term.
