High School Graduation Exam 2025: Many Concerns

The 2025 exam is the first exam organized according to the 2018 General Education Program with many notable new points such as: shortening the exam time compared to before, the exam subjects and exam content have many changes according to the innovation of the curriculum... In particular, the exam with a new structure, open content, and high practicality is a concern for 12th grade students.

Tran Trung Thien, class 12A9, Buon Ho High School (Buon Ho town) chose the optional subject of Economic and Legal Education, Geography, shared that he had prepared for the exam since the end of grade 11; currently he has reviewed 70% of the knowledge but still feels worried and confused. He tried practicing the test but the results were not as expected; the difficult part was the short answer questions, the multiple choice true/false part; for Economic and Legal Education, the situational questions were very difficult to get the desired score.

According to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), from 2025, candidates will take the high school graduation exam in 4 subjects, including: 2 compulsory subjects (Literature, Mathematics); 2 elective subjects in the following subjects: Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, Technology.

Ms. Nguyen Thi My Loc, Vice Principal of Buon Ho High School, said that in order to support 12th grade students in accessing the new exam format, the school has conducted a survey of students' learning needs to organize review sessions by subject. Accordingly, the class is expected to be held at the end of March in the following subjects: Math, History, Physics, Literature, Geography, Economic Education and Law. For subjects that do not have enough students to open a class, the school's Board of Directors has asked subject teachers to find reference questions and materials for students to review and support them according to their needs, aiming for 100% of students to graduate by 2025.

At the sectoral level, the Department of Education and Training has directed educational institutions to focus on improving the quality of official school hours; proactively review, supplement, and adjust the unit's educational plan (if necessary) according to the school year time frame, ensuring that students study the correct and sufficient subjects/educational activities to meet the requirements of the program; strengthen guidance for students on self-study methods and document lookup; actively apply information technology in managing and organizing teaching and learning, testing, and evaluating students' learning outcomes.
