Since its establishment, the Vietnam Militia and Self-Defense Force has gone through 90 years of building, fighting and growing. Along with the Vietnam Militia and Self-Defense Force, the Militia and Self-Defense Force of Binh Thuan province has also grown steadily, achieving many glorious achievements. During the two resistance wars against the French colonialists and the American imperialists, the Binh Thuan Party Committee organized and built three types of armed forces: the provincial main force, the district local force and the militia and guerrillas in all villages and communes, which have developed from low to high, from small to large. In most districts and towns, in addition to the army, there are also armed teams working day and night to stick close to the people, kill the enemy, destroy evil, break the shackles, do enemy propaganda work and build revolutionary strength inside.

During that process, thousands of militia and self-defense forces in all three regions: mountains, plains, and urban areas were built and continuously matured, fighting to contribute to the wear and tear, destruction, and containment of enemy forces, maintaining the liberated base areas, the areas controlled by the people, and destroying the enemy's plots to concentrate people and pacify them. They coordinated with the army to destroy many important targets, creating an increasingly large-scale people's war. Therefore, both the French colonialists and the American imperialists, when they sent troops into the province, after only a short time, were surrounded by the anti-French and anti-American belts of our army, militia, guerrillas, and people. All enemy sweeps into the Triangle, Le area, Lam Son war zone, Tanh Linh, etc. were defeated by the militia, guerrillas, and people.

Through 90 years of construction, development, fighting and growing up, under the leadership of the Party Committee and local government, the provincial militia and self-defense force has always been closely attached to the homeland, living and fighting in the hearts of the people, and being loved and protected by the people. In the face of difficulties, hardships, challenges and sacrifices, generations of cadres and soldiers of the provincial militia and self-defense force have always been loyal to the Party Committee, government and local people, to the revolutionary cause of the Party, fought steadfastly, intelligently, bravely, worked and studied, worked effectively and creatively and achieved many great feats. Together with the provincial armed forces, the militia and self-defense force has united to overcome all sacrifices and hardships, fought tenaciously, achieved many feats, and beautified the revolutionary tradition of the homeland. With the victories at Lau Ong Hoang, Duong, Camp E se pic, Muong Man, Nga Hai, Song Quao, Suoi Kiet, Thach Long, Mui Ne, Tanh Linh, La Day, Gia Bat, Hoai Duc - Bac Ruong... the great contributions of the militia and self-defense force are forever imprinted in the memories of cadres, soldiers and people of Binh Thuan; contributing to beautifying the precious tradition of "Self-reliance, self-strengthening, heroic fighting, glorious victory" of the provincial armed forces.

Stand side by side with the people, for the peace of the homeland

Entering the period of innovation, the provincial armed forces, including the militia and self-defense force, have always been the core, vanguard force, proactively overcoming all difficulties, striving to excellently complete the task of advising the locality on building the all-people national defense, the all-people national defense posture associated with the people's security posture, and building an increasingly solid defense area. Currently, the provincial militia and self-defense force has developed in both quantity and quality. The construction of the militia and self-defense force is closely linked to the construction of a comprehensively strong base, associated with the construction of the defense area of ​​the province, districts, towns, and cities. The militia and self-defense force has strongly shifted to the task of fighting security at the grassroots level, preventing natural disasters, catastrophes, epidemics, etc.

For example, in the recent fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, the militia force has proven to be the fastest and most effective on-site force, from patrolling, propagating and mobilizing people to comply with disease prevention and control regulations, to participating in blockades, quarantine areas, receiving and transporting food and food support for people. Militia officers and soldiers do not fear difficulties, hardships, and dangers, always standing side by side with the frontline against the epidemic, all for the people, for the peace of the homeland.

The Provincial Military Command said that 2025 is a year of many major events and anniversaries for the country, the year of organizing Party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Congress of the Party. Meanwhile, the regional and world situation, especially in the East Sea, still contains many complex and unpredictable factors, and hostile and reactionary forces are stepping up activities against our country. That situation poses new difficulties and challenges for the cause of building the Army, consolidating national defense, and protecting the Fatherland in the coming years, continuing to build the Militia and Self-Defense Forces in the direction of "strong and widespread in all regions, areas, and at sea", together with other forces to firmly protect the Fatherland in all situations.

Therefore, in order to continue promoting the glorious tradition of the past 90 years and to meet the requirements of the tasks in the new situation, in the coming time, the province will focus on building a strong militia and self-defense force in all aspects, focusing on being strong in politics, as a basis for completing all assigned tasks well. Strengthen training, drills, training, fostering, improving overall quality, qualifications, combat readiness, meeting the requirements of the tasks. Focus on training, fostering to improve practical operational capacity, especially the ability to grasp and handle security and defense situations in the field. Focus on training and rehearsing according to the combat readiness plan, commune-level defense combat and plans to prevent, combat and overcome the consequences of incidents, natural disasters, epidemics, search and rescue, not to be passive and surprised. Improve the quality of ensuring regimes, policies, and facilities serving the operations of the militia and self-defense forces, prioritizing forces operating in areas with important roles in national defense and security, remote areas, seas, islands, and units performing important tasks...
