Short-term tours are popular
Information from travel agencies shows that during the upcoming September 2nd holiday, most Vietnamese tourists tend to choose short, not-too-far trips.
Accordingly, the most popular tours are those to the Northeast and Northwest to the provinces of Hoa Binh, Son La, Dien Bien, Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Moc Chau... to hunt clouds, admire the beauty of the ripe rice season, and learn about the culture of ethnic minorities in the highlands. In the South, tourists like to check in at the wild sunflowers in Da Lat, and have fun in the coastal cities of Vung Tau, Phan Thiet, Da Nang, Phu Quoc...
Along with family tours, travel agencies also continue to focus on day tours to Hanoi, which are being exploited by many companies with diverse products. Some of them include Hanoitourist with the product "Heritage Journey of Thang Long - Hanoi past and present", Saigontourist exploiting the tour "City tour of Hanoi", tours combining the discovery of the unique features of Hanoi's heritage, culture and traditional cuisine, all receiving positive signals from customers.
General Director of Vietnam Express Tour (VNE) Tran Linh Phuong shared that in order to serve the tourism needs during the upcoming September 2 holiday, the company has prepared many attractive tours to meet the needs of tourists. Regarding domestic tours, the company has sightseeing programs at famous destinations such as Da Nang, Hoi An, Phu Quoc, Da Lat and Sapa.
In fact, at this time, not only are domestic short-term tours "in demand", but international tours are also in a similar situation. Recently, Booking.com, one of the global leaders in the field of digital tourism, revealed that the international destinations most searched by Vietnamese tourists for the upcoming National Day holiday are mainly international destinations with geographical locations close to Vietnam, which seem to be more "in demand" for short-term tours.
Accordingly, the 10 most searched international destinations are all located in the Asia-Pacific region. Bangkok (Thailand) is the most searched city, followed by vibrant cultural centers in Asia, including Tokyo, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taipei, Sydney, Bali, Chiang Mai. These are all destinations that Vietnamese tourists prioritize for the upcoming long holiday.
In addition, China is also a destination chosen by many Vietnamese tourists on the occasion of September 2. Surveys show that most traditional Chinese tours on the market cost less than 20 million VND. Some tours such as Hanoi - Kunming - Dali - Lijiang - Shangri-La departing on the occasion of the holiday, by train, cost less than 14 million VND, flight tours from 17 million VND depending on the airline. Other popular tours such as Phoenix Ancient Town range from 12 million VND.
People's travel demand has increased so much that tourism businesses are now running at almost full capacity. Marketing Director of BestPrice Travel Company Bui Thanh Tu said that the demand for travel during the holidays has increased quite a lot so BestPrice has now achieved 60 - 70% of the original plan.
Similarly, General Director of AZA Travel Company Nguyen Tien Dat said that the number of customers booking short-term tours during the September 2 holiday has reached 70% of the expected plan. "The number of customers has increased, so from August 15-20, the company will stop accepting customers buying foreign tours. The company mainly sells combos for domestic tours. If there are still services, they will continue to sell them to serve customers in need," Mr. Dat informed.
Businesses increase promotions
Whether tour prices will increase during the National Day holiday is always a concern for tourists. Regarding this issue, representative of Viet Tourism Media Joint Stock Company Pham Anh Vu said that although airfares during the September 2 holiday are still higher than normal days, package tour prices are unlikely to increase because customers mainly choose nearby tourist destinations to travel by car.
"The price of car tours has not increased compared to the same period last year. These tours are not too far away, easy to travel, helping tourists save time and enhance their relaxing experience. In order to stimulate tourists' demand, we are still maintaining promotions," Mr. Vu informed.
To stimulate tourism demand at the end of summer and also to maintain the "temperature" of the market from now until the September 2nd holiday, many travel agencies such as Vietravel, BenThanh Tourist, Vietluxtou... are currently offering good price promotions, discounts of up to 10% for customers "hunting" for tours. For example, Saigontourist Travel is implementing the "Gratitude Party" event with 4,900 good-priced domestic and international tours discounted directly for individual customers or groups of customers. Along with that is the program of a flat tour price of 2.49 million VND for customers going to Nha Trang, Da Lat for 4 days; flat tour price of 4.949 million VND for the Central region for 4-5 days, the North for 5 days, the package price includes Vietnam Airlines airfare...
Not only tourism businesses have launched promotions and discounts, but hotels nationwide are also entering the discount season. Information from the Vietnam Hotel Association shows that currently in Phu Quoc, many 3-5 star hotels have reduced prices by about 30% compared to the peak season in June and July.
For example, Wyndham Grand Phu Quoc Hotel has a promotion of staying 3 nights for the price of 2 nights for customers flying at night (from 9pm to 1am). Similarly, in Da Nang, prices of many 4-star hotels have started to decrease by about 40% compared to the peak summer season; hotels in Cat Ba, after August 15, will reduce prices by about 30% until the end of the year.
Although tourism businesses do not increase tour prices during the National Day holiday on September 2, according to experts, in the long term, attracting tourists requires authorities to take drastic action in calling on businesses to reduce airfares, services, etc. to stimulate tourism demand, thereby contributing to increasing sustainable revenue for the entire industry.
