In recent years, with the attention of all levels, especially the allocation of resources from 03 National Target Programs (National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction, National Target Program for New Rural Development, National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas), Kon Plong district has created favorable conditions for implementing policies for ethnic minorities in the area.
To implement policies promptly and closely to the actual situation of the locality, the District People's Committee has delegated authority to the People's Committees of communes and towns to implement infrastructure investment projects, support housing, residential land, production land and implement production development projects for ethnic minority people.
Walking on the concrete road to the new production area that was completed in 2023, Mr. A Nam, village elder of Kon Plong village, Hieu commune, Kon Plong district, shared: In the past, the roads were difficult to travel, but the State invested in inter-village roads, which are now spacious. Last year, a few more concrete roads were built to the production area, and the people were very excited. They are no longer afraid of mud when it rains, making it easier to travel and transport agricultural products.
In particular, resources from the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas, Phase 2021 - 2030, Phase I: 2021 - 2025 have helped many ethnic minority households in Kon Plong district have the conditions to build houses and develop production to increase income.
Up to now, the district has supported 06 households with residential land; supported production land for 04 households; supported housing for 36 households; invested in 03 centralized domestic water projects in Ngok Tem, Dak Ring and Dak Tang communes; supported decentralized domestic water (purchase of water tanks) for 750 poor households; supported livelihoods for poor households...
Ms. Y Luoc, Vi Chring village, Hieu commune, Kon Plong district said: The couple has been married for nearly 10 years, before living in a temporary house, in 2023, the district supported 44 million VND, borrowed an additional 40 million VND to build a spacious house. Now they only care about developing the economy to increase income and escape poverty soon.
Recently, the commune supported the family with a breeding buffalo worth 18 million VND, the family also bought cement and corrugated iron to build a solid barn. With the buffalo, the family will take care of it, and later breeding will help the family have more income, and escape poverty from raising animals - Mr. A Phan in Vi Choong village, Hieu commune, Kon Plong district shared.
With the investment resources of the State, the efforts of the local government and the people, the appearance of Kon Plong district has improved a lot, especially the remote communes, the ethnic minority areas of the district. Up to now, the whole district has 03/08 communes meeting the new rural standards, the average communes have met 13.25 criteria/commune.
Mr. Pham Van Thang, Vice Chairman of Kon Plong District People's Committee said: The synchronous implementation of ethnic policies and 03 National Target Programs has contributed to improving the material and spiritual life of people in ethnic minority areas.
Accordingly, the average income per capita by the end of 2023 will reach 40 million VND/person/year. The poverty rate of the district will decrease to 22.38%. 100% of communes have roads that can be used by cars in 2 seasons and over 95% of inter-village, intra-village and production area roads are paved. Teaching and learning facilities are invested synchronously; the whole district has 9/9 communes and towns meeting the standards of universal education for 5-year-old children; the quality of education is increasingly improved, currently there are 13 schools meeting national standards.
The ethnic minority area of Kon Plong district is gradually changing, these results prove that the attention of the Party and State for ethnic minorities has been effective. That is the belief and motivation for ethnic minorities in Kon Plong district to continue to work hard to produce, strive to build a prosperous life, and build a homeland that is renewed day by day.
