Dong Nai is entering the peak of the rainy and stormy season. From state management agencies to the people, we continue to be proactive in prevention and minimizing damage caused by natural disasters.
* Timely support for people affected by damage
According to the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control - Search and Rescue (PCTT-TKCN), up to now, Tan Phu and Dinh Quan districts have 269 damaged fish cages with nearly 2,400 tons of fish dead and escaped; 60 hectares of fish ponds were flooded and lost. Regarding crops, more than 1,000 hectares of rice, flowers, and fruit trees were flooded. In addition, 79 houses were flooded; some rural roads were eroded... The total damage is estimated at about 30 billion VND.
According to Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee VO VAN PHI, damages that directly affect people such as collapsed houses, blown-off roofs, etc. must be quickly remedied and the affected people supported. |
Vice Chairman of Dinh Quan District People's Committee Ngo Tan Tai said that since the beginning of the year, the district and the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control of the communes have deployed all contents related to disaster prevention and control work. Every year, floods usually appear from September and October, but this year they came earlier. The locality has 7 communes raising fish in rafts on Tri An Lake, so it is necessary to constantly update the situation of weather changes and flood discharge from hydropower plants in and outside the province to proactively prevent and mitigate damage.
After the flood on Dong Nai River, Dinh Quan District organized the relocation of fish rafts to safe areas. The district promptly supported households whose houses collapsed or roofs were blown off immediately after the incident occurred. Regarding crops, Dinh Quan has two areas that are frequently flooded: fields in Gia Canh and Phu Hoa communes. Previously, Dinh Quan District proposed implementing an inter-field flood drainage project with Phu Dien commune in Tan Phu District and advised people not to plant crops during the crop season.
Tan Phu District also immediately implemented many solutions to overcome the consequences of natural disasters. Vice Chairman of Tan Phu District People's Committee Pham Ngoc Hung said that when floods occurred on the river, the government supported fish farmers to move their rafts closer to the shore; harvested suffocated fish and took them away to reduce damage. Regarding crops, the area of perennial trees was flooded but not much damage, part of the flooded rice area was harvested early by people. Compared to last year, the damage was not too great. After 3 landslides occurred, the district inspected and coordinated with the communes to handle, warn, and proactively evacuate people to safe areas. In the coming time, the district will continue to closely monitor weather developments to proactively respond.
* Adaptation to natural disaster prevention and control
In addition to focusing on implementing solutions to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control from the provincial to district and commune levels has developed plans and response options in the coming time when the flood season peaks.

Tan Phu and Dinh Quan districts continue to continuously update the weather and river water situation, and inform agencies, organizations, and people in riverside areas to proactively prevent. Continue to direct agencies and units to organize 24/7 duty, arrange forces and means to mobilize and proactively respond to natural disasters. Direct the People's Committees of communes to proactively inspect, count, verify, and support affected families according to regulations. Implement the motto "Four on-site" and "Three ready"; review, update, and identify areas at risk of flooding, flash floods, and landslides to develop specific plans for response and evacuation of people in emergency situations.
In particular, propaganda work on natural disaster prevention and control is carried out regularly to raise awareness and disaster response skills of authorities at all levels and people. The work of organizing training, drills, and drills on natural disaster response plans, especially at the grassroots level, is focused on.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Phi emphasized that Dong Nai is entering the peak of the rainy and stormy season, especially in the two localities of Tan Phu and Dinh Quan. Therefore, localities need to regularly monitor and inspect the work of natural disaster prevention and control, promptly warn about the flood situation to proactively respond. Organize the evacuation of people from the disaster area to minimize damage to people and property.
In particular, it is necessary to create adaptability for people in preventing and combating natural disasters, not to let them wait and rely on others. Specifically, for the summer-autumn rice crop, it is necessary to recommend early sowing and harvesting times to avoid floods. The situation of fish farming in rafts on Tri An Lake should not be developed or expanded further, and solutions need to be found to handle the increased farming area that poses a risk of water pollution. Localities should strive to effectively implement the relocation and arrangement of rafts according to the plan to ensure the safety of rafts.
