Construction of Long Thanh super airport customs headquarters begins

Long Thanh airport customs headquarters has a total investment of 337 billion VND, built on a land area of ​​over 1.6 hectares.

On December 27, the General Department of Customs started construction of the customs headquarters at the Long Thanh airport project (Dong Nai) with a total investment of 337 billion VND.

The airport customs headquarters is built on a land area of ​​more than 1.6 hectares, this is one of the important items of component project 1.

According to plan, this project will be completed before December 31, 2025, ensuring progress in sync with the putting into operation of Long Thanh airport phase 1.

According to the General Department of Customs, Long Thanh airport will focus on exploiting long routes of over 1,000km, accounting for about 55% of domestic and Southeast Asian flights.

Regarding cargo transportation, Long Thanh airport is expected to handle more than 700,000 tons, accounting for 97% of total import and export volume through the region.

The customs management model in Long Thanh will use an automatic screening system and apply artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the efficiency of baggage inspection.

Groundbreaking ceremony for airport customs headquarters.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Minister of Finance, said that this is one of the important component projects, contributing to enhancing the effectiveness of State management of customs when the airport comes into operation.

Mr. Thang requested the General Department of Customs to direct units to implement the project with the spirit of "clear people, clear work, clear time, clear responsibility, clear products".

The Minister also requested the unit to regularly monitor progress, promptly identify difficulties and obstacles to coordinate with units under the Ministry of Finance and local departments to proactively resolve them to ensure the project is completed on schedule. Avoid negativity, loss and waste during project implementation.

The Long Thanh airport construction investment project phase 1 consists of 5 component projects. Of which, the project to build headquarters of state management agencies belongs to component project 1.

According to the approved investment decision, component project 1 will have 5 projects to build headquarters of state management agencies assigned to ministries, branches and Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee as investors. Up to now, the construction progress of the headquarters of the airport, customs, immigration management department, and local police is on schedule. However, the implementation of the headquarters of the quarantine agency is still slow.
