Experts suggest new directions for candidates who unfortunately failed the first round of university entrance exams.

Through the 2024 high school graduation exam, it can be seen that some majors have increased their standard scores, such as pedagogy, journalism - communication, some majors in the fields of technology, computer engineering... Among them, there are cases with 29 points but still not admitted to the first choice.

According to experts, there are two main reasons for this phenomenon. First, it can be seen that the average score of this year's exam is high, especially the average score of the social science group. This increase has led to universities setting high entrance scores. The second reason is that a certain proportion of candidates are admitted through early admission methods. This early admission method has helped reduce pressure on candidates and schools, but this has caused the enrollment quota based on high school graduation exam scores to decrease.

Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, Head of Training Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, added that the quality of candidates registering for engineering and technology majors this year is very good. It can be seen that the engineering majors have regained their form. This proves that candidates are sharp and well updated with the labor market.

Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan said that industries related to engineering and technology are gradually regaining their "form".

MSc. Bui Quang Trung, Head of Communications Department, Nguyen Tat Thanh University shared: "Hot days like media and journalism are of interest to many parents and candidates. The number of applications has exploded, so the admission process must also be selective, schools must consider from high to low. This makes the competition rate for these majors quite harsh".

Master Trung added that students should not choose "hot" majors if they do not really like them to avoid wasting time studying. Currently, some universities are still recruiting, candidates can consider changing their wishes accordingly.
