The year 2025 marked a significant expansion of the “School Diplomacy” project. For the first time, 80 students from Irkutsk province visited Vietnam together, divided into two groups (late March, early April).
As an important companion on the delegation's journey, the Russian House (Russian Center for Science and Culture) in Hanoi has built a rich program, harmoniously combining sightseeing, learning about the country's culture and direct exchange with peers. The trip not only opens up opportunities to explore Vietnam's history and culture but also marks an important step in strengthening the connection between the two countries' young generations.
A meaningful journey of experience
After more than 20 years of operation in Vietnam, the Russian House has accumulated a treasure trove of valuable experience, building appropriate and meaningful tour programs for student groups. With a deep understanding of Vietnamese history and culture, the Center has built a program for the Irkutsk student group to visit places with great historical and cultural values, such as Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Lenin Park, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Hoan Kiem Lake, Vietnam Military History Museum and Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam, symbols of Vietnam's tradition of studiousness, culture and science.

In addition, the group of students also enjoyed special water puppet shows at Thang Long Puppet Theater and explored Bat Trang pottery village, famous for its traditional handicrafts.
Not only that, to suit the interests of teenagers, the program also takes them to Bao Son Paradise Park, where they can relax and enjoy joyful moments. These activities not only help them understand more about Vietnam but also contribute to creating unforgettable memories during the trip.
“It is these sincere, distance-free conversations that quickly connect students, create understanding, and make the school diplomacy program truly valuable,” shared Director of the Russian House in Hanoi Vladimir Murashkin.
“School diplomacy” - strategic investment for the future
Promoting school diplomacy is not just about tours and exchanges, but also a long-term strategy to form a generation of global citizens - people who understand each other and share responsibility in building a peaceful and cooperative world.
Speaking to Nhan Dan Newspaper, Mr. Vladimir Murashkin, Director of the Russian House in Hanoi, said that direct, off-screen, exchanges between young people are a long-term investment in the future of bilateral relations. Today's students can be tomorrow's scientists, businessmen or politicians. They will bring with them not only knowledge, but also experience in intercultural dialogue, as well as the desire to develop cooperation between the two countries. "Such a model of youth exchange is an investment for the long-term future," he emphasized.

Participating in exchange programs, students realize their role as ambassadors representing their country and region, bringing their country's voice and culture to international friends.
Despite their practical value, youth exchange programs still face many challenges, especially financial and organizational issues. However, with the support of Russian authorities, these barriers are gradually being removed.
For example, in 2024, more than 20 Vietnamese students had the opportunity to visit Russia for a month and a half. Russian universities also actively organize Olympiads, scholarship programs, summer courses and intensive exchange programs.
Every year, about 1,000 Vietnamese students receive full scholarships to study at higher education institutions in Russia, creating favorable conditions to maintain educational bridges.
Enhancing the effectiveness of bilateral educational cooperation
When discussing solutions to expand the scale and improve the effectiveness of educational cooperation programs, the representative of the Russian House emphasized the importance of strengthening propaganda work. He said that the platforms of the Russian House in Hanoi regularly update information about opportunities to participate in competitions and various programs.
In addition, he suggested the need to develop more long-term programs and projects. A typical example is the “New Generation” program, which creates opportunities for young professionals from Vietnam and many other countries to study and gain experience in Russia. In addition, there are some notable projects such as “Russian Ambassador” and “Master of Russian”.

The Director of the Russian House also emphasized the essential role of state agencies, educational institutions and social organizations in promoting cooperation. He shared that every year, up to 1,000 Vietnamese students receive full scholarships to study at Russian universities.
In the context of increasingly expanding multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, learning Russian is becoming more practical than ever. Currently, there are about 5,000 Vietnamese students studying Russian at universities, vocational schools and high schools. However, this number is still modest compared to the potential for cooperation between the two countries.
Thanks to the sustainable connection between the Russian House in Hanoi, friendship organizations, educational institutions and student communities of the two countries, “school diplomacy” is becoming an important pillar in bilateral cooperation. Not only creating opportunities for exchanges and meetings, these programs also contribute to fostering the humanistic foundation for the Vietnam-Russia relationship, towards a promising future.
