On the afternoon of August 29, at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, a discussion took place around the work Following in His Footsteps by Professor Trinh Quang Phu.
Following His Footprints is the seventh book by Professor Trinh Quang Phu about President Ho Chi Minh. This is also the result of 28 years of diligent research and nurturing. Author Trinh Quang Phu skillfully used the form of a memoir to recreate Uncle Ho's difficult journey during his 30 years abroad into vivid, realistic, easy-to-understand and easy-to-remember stories. However, he shared that writing this work was not easy . "Currently, choosing to write about Uncle Ho is making things difficult for myself, because there are thousands of works written about him. How to make my work different and well-received, that is what I am concerned about," author Trinh Quang Phu shared.
Poet Nguyen Quang Thieu, Chairman of the Vietnam Writers Association, commented: “With his honest, skillful, and simple storytelling and his deep love for Uncle Ho, author Trinh Quang Phu has overcome the barriers of a writer writing about a great historical figure like President Ho Chi Minh. Therefore, when reading this book, readers feel like they are living in that era, like they are living next to that great man, and that is the wonderful thing about literature.”
In the current context, when young people can easily access information from many different sources, writing about history not only requires high accuracy but also needs to convey inspiration and create a sense of closeness when young readers approach the work. Following in His Footsteps has succeeded in leading young readers into the world of literature and following Uncle Ho's journey to find a way to save the country with special emotions.
Tran Thanh Tam, a student of the History Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, shared: “ As a student of the History Department, I have read many documents about Uncle Ho, not all of which are consistent. However, when reading Following His Footprints , I found the story told coherently and easy to understand, helping me grasp and remember it much easier.”
“When reading this book, I was very moved by the story of Uncle Ho when he celebrated his first Tet in Vietnam after 30 years of separation. In the story, the moment when Uncle Ho met his comrades again and personally shook hands with each person was described and recounted very vividly, leaving me with a deep impression of the comradeship, revolutionary spirit and love for the homeland of this great man,” said Kongmanykeo, a Laotian student who participated in the discussion.
In the Footsteps of the Man by author Trinh Quang Phu has succeeded in bringing the image and ideology of President Ho Chi Minh closer to today's young generation. The work is not only a literary work of historical value but also a very authentic journey about Uncle Ho, rich in emotions, helping young people have a fresher perspective on his life and career. The quintessential values and patriotism in the work will continue to be a source of inspiration for many generations of young Vietnamese, encouraging young people to live and work according to Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style, while feeling more clearly the strength of solidarity of the Vietnamese people.
