On the afternoon of August 4, a foreign press delegation stationed in Vietnam visited and explored An Khe lagoon - the largest lagoon in Quang Ngai province, located in the Sa Huynh Cultural Special National Monument system.
The program was organized by the Department of Press and Information (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) in coordination with the Department of Foreign Affairs of Quang Ngai province to promote Quang Ngai province's tourist attractions and introduce the Sa Huynh Cultural Special National Monument to foreign press agencies stationed in Vietnam. The program took place from August 3-6.

Mr. Huynh Chi Cuong, in charge of the Sa Huynh Cultural Exhibition House, said that An Khe lagoon is the largest lagoon in Quang Ngai province, located in the coastal area of Sa Huynh, bordering the two communes of Pho Khanh and Pho Thanh (Duc Pho). The lagoon has a water surface area of 347 hectares, the longest length is 3.5 km, the widest length is about 1 km.
The lagoon has water all year round, the deepest water level in the lagoon is 4 m.
According to geologists, An Khe lagoon was formed during the period of marine regression after the maximum Flandrian transgression 6,000-7,000 years ago and became a freshwater lagoon about 3,000-4,000 years ago.
An Khe lagoon water is a suitable habitat for many aquatic species.
Aquatic products living in the lagoon are mainly freshwater species such as crucian carp, catfish, goby, carp, eel, grass carp, silver carp, shrimp, snails, tilapia...

Mr. Huynh Chi Cuong shared that researchers believe that An Khe lagoon is the most important link in the process of emergence, development and spread of Sa Huynh culture in the past. This place is also the source of fresh water for daily life, fishing and agricultural production of the ancient Sa Huynh community.
"Around An Khe lagoon area, there are many historical and cultural relics. Not far from An Khe lagoon is Vung Bang, a coastal area with beautiful natural scenery.
To the north of An Khe lagoon, in Phu Long village, Pho Khanh commune, there are traces of a stone bridge, called Phu Long stone bridge, a work of the ancient Cham people. Adjacent to Vung Bang to the southeast of An Khe lagoon is an ancient stone-paved road crossing a mountain that the surrounding residents call Bo mountain...", Mr. Cuong introduced.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Xi, Phu Long village, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai, a boat driver at An Khe lagoon, said that over the past 3 years, An Khe lagoon has attracted a lot of tourists, especially during the summer. On average, she carries 5-7 groups of tourists every day.
Mrs. Xi has over 40 years of experience as a fisherman. Since An Khe lagoon made its mark on the tourism map of Quang Ngai province, Mrs. Xi has had a new job - ferryman. Many local people have also had a new direction like Mrs. Xi.
Sharing with TG&VN reporter, Mr. Pham Duc Anh, a cameraman at NHK Television in Vietnam, felt that with its rare historical and cultural values and beautiful natural landscape, An Khe lagoon will be a favorite destination for many domestic and foreign tourists. Coming here, tourists will feel relaxed with the rustic and peaceful atmosphere.
