Exploring Mekong River tourism in Vinh Long

The seminar was attended by representatives of the tourism industry of Vinh Long and Ben Tre provinces, along with representatives of tourism companies in Ho Chi Minh City; scientists, river researchers and press agencies inside and outside the Mekong Delta region.

Speaking at the seminar, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long province Phan Van Giau introduced some of the province's tourism potential. In particular, there are many potentials for river tourism existing in Vinh Long with many facilities invested in and built to support tourism development such as: Vinh Long passenger port, tourist boat fleet; eco-tourism spots, areas, homestay clusters in the island communes of Long Ho district all have characteristics associated with the river area.

In recent years, Vinh Long province has also invested in many new tourism products associated with the river route such as the river tour to visit Coco home (Hoa Ninh commune, Long Ho district); visit the brick and pottery craft village in Thay Cai canal (Mang Thit district), unique historical and cultural relics in the area.

The cruise ship La Marguerite is anchored on the Co Chien River in Vinh Long city, Vinh Long province.

Coming to the seminar, delegates listened to many important contents to exploit river tourism in the Mekong Delta region as well as the Mekong River such as: Developing sustainable tourism associated with the Mekong River to become a key economic sector in Vinh Long and the entire Mekong sub-region.

Share experiences and propose solutions to promote Vinh Long and Mekong river tourism to become more attractive to domestic and international tourists. Share experiences and propose ideas to create breakthrough, unique products for river tourism in Vinh Long province in particular and the Mekong River in general.

From September 27-29, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long province coordinated with Focus Travel Limited Liability Company to organize a survey program on Vinh Long river tourism.

During the survey trip, delegates will participate in two seminars on exploring and developing river tourism as well as river tourism products. In particular, they will experience many unique tourist attractions of Vinh Long province.
