(CLO) On the evening of February 12, the Vietnam Writers Association coordinated with the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province to organize the opening ceremony of the 23rd Vietnam Poetry Day in 2025, gathering thousands of outstanding works by many generations of authors.
This year, Vietnam Poetry Day has the theme "The Fatherland flies up", inspired by the verse "The Fatherland flies up in the immense spring" in the work "Vietnam's posture" by poet Le Anh Xuan.
For the first time, Vietnam Poetry Day took place in Hoa Lu city, Ninh Binh province, with the coordination of the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee, including many diverse activities, aiming to bring Poetry Day to the public nationwide, according to the policy of the Vietnam Writers Association.

In his opening speech, poet Nguyen Quang Thieu, Chairman of the Vietnam Writers' Association, recalled the work "Vietnam's Stance" by poet and martyr Le Anh Xuan with the verse "From your posture on Tan Son Nhat runway/The Fatherland flies up to the boundless spring" which was chosen as the theme of this year's Poetry Day, which is also the Poetry Day commemorating the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification.
"We choose the spirit from the poem of poet Le Anh Xuan to express our honor and gratitude to all the children of the beloved land of Vietnam who have devoted their whole lives to the independence, freedom and unification of the country. We choose their stance to choose the stance of a nation that never knows how to kneel before any enemy. They fell so that the Fatherland can stand up proudly" - poet Nguyen Quang Thieu emphasized.
"Today, we choose this land of history, culture, and majestic nature to organize the 23rd Poetry Day and together send a message of peace, beauty, the nation's aspiration for a true life and the will to act for that aspiration" - the Chairman of the Vietnam Writers' Association affirmed.
At the event, Mr. Pham Quang Ngoc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee, said that the majestic mountains and rivers and charming landscape of Ninh Binh have been written in poems by many heroes, famous generals, literati, and scholars, from kings Tran Thai Tong, Tran Nhan Tong, Tran Anh Tong, Le Thanh Tong, Le Hien Tong, Thieu Tri, ... to writers and poets such as Nguyen Du, Nguyen Trai, Nguyen Cong Tru, Ho Xuan Huong, Le Quy Don, ...
Ninh Binh is also the hometown of many famous scholars and poets such as Truong Han Sieu, Vu Duy Thanh, Vu Pham Khai, Pham Than Duat, Ninh Ton, ... and many other talented people whose poetry and works have contributed to shaping the image of the homeland and country today, and are the source of energy and motivation for generations to continue to work, create, build and develop the homeland and country.
Mr. Pham Quang Ngoc also mentioned the special national relic of Non Nuoc Mountain, which is considered a poetry museum with nearly 50 poems carved on the cliffs by many kings, scholars, and poets from the 13th to the 19th century, which are valuable works of art in literature, language, sculpture, and cultural history, protected, preserved, and submitted to UNESCO by the government and people of Ninh Binh for recognition as a world documentary heritage in the Asia-Pacific region.

At the event, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, beat the drum to open the 3rd Vietnam Poetry Day in 2025. The opening night of Vietnam Poetry Day 2025 had the participation of poets from the generation of the resistance war against the US to save the country, the generation after the country's reunification (1975) to the early years of renovation (2000) and young poets from the generation from 2001 to the present.
Earlier, on the morning of February 12, a discussion on “Responsibility and Aspiration of Poets” took place, which raised the social and artistic responsibilities of poets. The discussion was attended by many poets, writers, and researchers.
In addition, the Poetry Day space also displays posters of 20 typical Vietnamese poets who received the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Literature and Arts, along with ancient and modern poems about Ninh Binh and beautiful images of the landscape and mountains of Ninh Binh...
Vietnam Poetry Day 2025 takes place from February 11 to 13 (ie January 14 to 16, At Ty year).
