Implementing the 2025 foreign affairs program, within the framework of a working trip to North American countries, a delegation of the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) led by Deputy General Director Ngo Minh Hien visited and worked in Mexico from April 14-15.
According to a VNA correspondent in Mexico, the working trip is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Mexico diplomatic relations (May 19, 1975 - May 19, 2025) to strengthen cooperation in the field of media in general and broadcasting in particular between the two countries.
During their stay in Mexico, the delegation had a working session with Mr. Mouris Salloum George, President of the Mexican Press Association and Ms. Velia Perez Martínez, Director of the International Radio Station of the Mexican Radio Institute, and visited the Embassy and representative offices of Vietnam in the country.
At the working session with President of the Mexican Press Association Mouris Salloum George, Deputy General Director Ngo Minh Hien gave an overview of the history of formation, development as well as the functions and tasks of VOV, stating that VOV is a government agency, a national radio station, and one of the three main multimedia media agencies in Vietnam.
In particular, Deputy General Director Ngo Minh Hien said that VOV currently owns a foreign affairs channel including 13 foreign languages broadcast widely in many countries and territories, including many programs specializing in promoting the culture, country and people of countries around the world.
Therefore, according to the Deputy General Director of VOV, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2025, VOV will broadcast special music programs of Mexico to Vietnamese listeners, thereby contributing to enhancing mutual understanding between the people of the two countries.
Congratulating the President of the Mexican Press Association Mouris Salloum George on receiving the Second Prize of the 10th National Foreign Information Award of Vietnam in 2024, Deputy General Director Ngo Minh Hien highly appreciated the articles about Vietnam by author Mouris Salloum George, emphasizing that the content of the journalistic works provided objective information about Vietnam to the Mexican people, thereby contributing to promoting the traditional friendship between the two countries.
Introducing the history of formation and development trends of Mexican journalism, President of the Mexican Press Association Mouris Salloum George affirmed that Mexican and Vietnamese journalism share many similarities, thereby providing accurate, honest and timely information, while spreading positive and humane values.
Based on that foundation, the head of the Mexican Press Association - an organization representing more than 45,000 professional journalists - wishes to strengthen cooperation and academic exchange between press and media agencies of the two countries, especially between the association and key press agencies of Vietnam such as the Voice of Vietnam (VOV), Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and Vietnam Television (VTV).
Meanwhile, at a working session with Ms. Velia Perez Martínez, Director of the International Radio Station of the Mexican Radio Institute, VOV Deputy General Director Ngo Minh Hien highly appreciated Mexico's radio system, especially high-quality programs related to cultural and social issues, and proposed to strengthen cooperation and exchange of expertise and content between VOV and the Mexican Radio Institute.
Expressing admiration for VOV's 80 years of establishment and development as well as its great contributions to the country's defense and construction, Director of Velia Perez Martínez International Radio affirmed that Mexico is ready to cooperate with VOV, focusing on music programs (30 minutes) and promoting culture, country and people.
Previously, the delegation worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in Mexico and laid flowers at the Ho Chi Minh Monument in the Freedom Park of the Peoples in the center of Mexico City.
Built in 2009, based on a photo taken by artist Dinh Dang Dinh of him working in the garden of the Presidential Palace, the Ho Chi Minh Monument is a symbol of the friendship and solidarity between the Vietnamese and Mexican people./.
