Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Phan Van Mai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, shared: Coming to the festival, people and tourists can experience water tourism programs, space on the wharf under the boat at Bach Dang Wharf, Nhieu Loc Canal (District 1), Binh Dong Wharf (District 8), visit the space recreating the community life of Saigon - Cho Lon - Gia Dinh residents through the periods as well as shopping for local agricultural specialties.
Exciting experiences at the first Ho Chi Minh City River Festival
The highlight of the event is the art program with the theme of Storytelling River at Saigon Port - Cruise Passenger Port. The program will recreate the formation of nature and people through the periods of Saigon - Gia Dinh - Cho Lon - Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of nearly 700 actors and folk artists.
The festival is a major tourism event in Ho Chi Minh City this year, aiming to promote the exploitation of economic tourism value from the river resource system, aiming to shape the brand of a river city.
The festival is also an activity to promote the image, land, people, cultural identity, tourism activities and typical cuisine of Ho Chi Minh City, thereby spreading pride and love for the city, contributing to inspiring domestic and international tourists to explore the city's tourist destinations.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, many special events took place on the Saigon River such as teams practicing for the dragon boat race. This year's race included 25 teams, 650 athletes from districts and towns of Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities such as: Binh Thuan, Dong Nai, Quang Binh, Hanoi, Hai Phong, An Giang and 5 social organizations and businesses registered to participate.
