(To Quoc) - The Conference on Society and Culture in Asia in the Digital Age aims to create an international forum to analyze and discuss the impact of the digital technology context, the important role of digital technology in the application and comprehensive development of sustainable Asian society and culture.
On November 22, in Hue City (Thua Thien Hue Province), Hue College in collaboration with Malang National University (Indonesia), Hyderabad University (India), Mahasarakham University (Thailand), Institute of Cultural Anthropology (Hanoi) and Northeast Institute of Cultural and Art Studies (Thailand) organized the Opening Ceremony of the 7th International Conference on Society and Culture in Asia in the Digital Age (with the general theme of Language, Society and Culture in the Asian Context).

The workshop was held in the context of the whole world entering the digital era, responding to the Party and Government's policy of "taking science and technology as the focus of innovation, transforming the country into a digital economy and green economy" under the chairmanship and support of a team of prestigious experts from the United States, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan and from the UNESCO Scientific Coordination Committee with high-quality research and publications.
Specifically, the conference had more than 150 international and Vietnamese delegates with more than 160 registered scientific papers, 90 papers were selected for presentation. The content of the conference focused mainly on 14 topics in the context of digital technology such as: Education and digital technology, foreign language teaching/learning, multicultural education in Asia; The role of digital technology in language protection; Modern Asian literature and the issue of cultural identity; Social structure of Asian countries; Modern philosophical trends; Tourism in Asia; Environment and Population in Asia; Asian economy in the context of digital technology; Preserving cultural heritage; Translation; Empowering women through digital literacy; Governance through digital technology and people's participation for sustainable development; History of Southeast Asia; Digital technology culture in Asia.
Mr. Phan Thien Dinh, Secretary of Hue City Party Committee, delivered a congratulatory speech at the conference.
In particular, there are 3 main speakers who are professors from prestigious universities in the United States, India, and Vietnam with current, scientific, and practical topics such as "Multilingualism and AI for long-term sustainable development in Asia" - Professor Prabhakar Rao Jandhyala, University of Hyderabad; "Digital resources supporting English learning through stages from: Ancient, Middle to Modern" - Professor Ted Morrissey, Lindenwood University; "English teaching practice in Vietnam, from the perspective of policy and implementation practice" - Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thi Hong Nhung, Principal of the University of Foreign Languages, Hue University.
In addition, on the sidelines of the conference, there was also a discussion on "Scientific research in the context of digital technology" by Associate Professor, Dr. Do Lai Thuy from the Institute of Cultural Anthropology with delegates attending the conference; Exchange and agreement, signing of bilateral and multilateral scientific cooperation between the School and Research Institute in Vietnam and the world.
According to the Organizing Committee, following the success of the previous six conferences, this conference aims to create an international forum to analyze and discuss the impact of the digital technology context, the important role of digital technology in the application and comprehensive development of sustainable Asian society and culture. These are the beneficial and negative impacts of the technological revolution in the era of artificial intelligence, in protecting, preserving and promoting indigenous knowledge, culture, language, education, environment, economic diversity, empowering women, in building comprehensive policies and guidelines to develop and protect the interests of society and people, etc.
In addition, the conference will also analyze and identify the characteristics that make up the strength of Asian societies, such as the multicultural, multilingual, rich, diverse, dynamic social structures of these countries. In addition to the sessions at the conference, delegates will have the opportunity to experience the culture of Hue, a destination with 8 UNESCO-recognized heritages.
