In Thailand , Vietnam is in the top 10 largest tourist markets in the first 11 months of the year, according to TAT Vietnam, behind destinations such as Malaysia, China, Russia, India, and South Korea. Of the total of more than 26.4 million visitors to Thailand, more than 1 million were Vietnamese. Thailand is currently the international destination visited by the most Vietnamese tourists in 2023, according to the Vietnam Tourism Association.

Japan is the second most visited destination by Vietnamese tourists in 2023. According to the announcement on December 20 by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) Representative Office in Vietnam, more than 536,000 Vietnamese tourists visited Japan from January to November, surpassing the record number of 495,000 in 2019. 2023 will be the year Japan welcomes the highest number of Vietnamese tourists in history. Vietnam has become the 8th largest tourist sending market in Japan after South Korea, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, the US, Thailand and the Philippines.

Responding to VnExpress , Chief Representative of JNTO Vietnam Yoshida Kenji expressed his hope that in 2024, Vietnamese tourists will not only visit familiar places but also visit "other beautiful places" and experience "things that can only be found in Japan". Mr. Kenji said that provinces such as Kagoshima and Fukushima are planning to operate charter flights in March 2024 to attract more Vietnamese tourists. "We hope that the number of visitors next year will surpass this year's number," Mr. Kenji said.

According to data from the Korea Tourism Organization in Vietnam (KTO), Vietnamese tourists to Korea by the end of November reached more than 386,000, the highest in Southeast Asia and top 5 in the world. Vietnam is also the leading market in Southeast Asia for MICE group visitors with nearly 40,000 visitors, double the same period in 2022.

"This is special when for the first time Vietnam takes the number 1 position, being the largest market sending visitors to Southeast Asia," KTO commented.

The number of Vietnamese visitors to Korea this year is 140% compared to the same period in 2022 and 74% of 2019. It is expected that by the end of December, the number of visitors to Korea will reach 420,000. Taiwan is in 4th place with more than 350,000 visitors.

On the other hand, according to data from the National Tourism Administration, this year Vietnam is estimated to welcome 12.5 million international visitors, far exceeding the target set at the beginning of the year of 8 million and equal to the adjustment in October of 12.5-13 million. South Korea is the largest market sending visitors in the first 11 months of the year with 3.2 million visitors and accounting for 28.2% of the market share. China ranked second with 1.5 million visitors. The remaining markets include Taiwan, the US, Japan, Thailand, and India.
