The 2025 World Games will take place from August 7 to 17 in Chengdu, China.
According to information from the jujitsu department (Vietnam Sports Administration), athlete Nguyen Thi Minh Vuong has won a place in the women's fighting category of 57kg.
This is the first time the Vietnamese jujitsu team has had martial artists compete at a World Games - an important multi-sport event that brings together sports not included in the Olympic program.
Sharing about this, Mr. Tran Van Thach - in charge of jujitsu, Vietnam Sports Department - said:
"Minh Vuong's participation is a remarkable milestone for Vietnamese jujitsu. We expect Vuong to perform well in the world arena."
Female martial artist Nguyen Thi Minh Vuong is a potential face of Vietnamese women's jujitsu, with achievements: Gold medal in the 2024 World Beach Championship, Gold medal in the U21 age group at the 2024 Asian Youth Championship.
Besides jujitsu, Vietnamese sports have officially qualified for the 2025 World Games in several other martial arts such as Muay, Kickboxing and Wushu.
At the 2022 World Games, Vietnamese sports won 2 gold medals from athletes Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat (muay) and Duong Thuy Vi (wushu).
