Accordingly, potential suppliers need to ensure criteria for thickness, size and curvature radius, and require significant improvements in durability and crease prevention on the screen.
Several manufacturers have made progress toward meeting Apple’s requirements. The supplier selection process is expected to last from late February to early April.

As described, the foldable display increases durability by making the glass thinner at the fold and thicker at other parts to protect the display from impacts.
The display will consist of two parts: a protective coating and a flexible display panel. The panel can bend around an axis, while the coating is made of a layer of glass with a thin bevel that extends along the axis of the bend.
It is known that the two foldable iPhone prototypes have internal screen sizes of 7.9 and 8.3 inches, so the size of the device will be larger than the Galaxy Z Fold5 with a 7.6-inch screen. The price of the foldable screen panel is $650 and the hinge is $250. LG Display is the exclusive partner to develop the panel while Amphenol is in charge of the hinge.
