In fact, there are many new features added to the iPhone 16 series, but in the iPhone 16 Pro series, some notable improvements will come to the rear camera system as listed below.
Photography capabilities on the iPhone 16 Pro will reach the top thanks to a series of upgrades
Upgraded ultra wide camera
On the iPhone 14, Apple has greatly improved the main camera by increasing the resolution to 48 MP. With the iPhone 15 Pro Max, the telephoto lens is improved with new technology that allows 5x optical zoom. But on the iPhone 16 Pro, this also applies to the ultra-wide camera.
This is probably the worst sensor of the three cameras on the iPhone, as it hasn't improved in recent years. But with the iPhone 16 Pro getting an improved 48MP ultra-wide camera, it should capture more light and significantly improve the quality of photos and videos shot with this sensor.
Periscope camera
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is equipped with a periscope lens camera that offers significantly improved optical zoom, up to 5x. Due to internal space issues, this sensor cannot be included in the regular iPhone 15 Pro.
The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will be larger, allowing this camera to also be included on the iPhone 16 Pro, allowing the phone to support 5x optical zoom like the larger model.
Improvements in the main camera
It is impossible not to mention a few improvements in the main camera, allowing it to continue to maintain a resolution of 48 MP. The iPhone 16 Pro is said to use a new sensor from Sony in the main camera with an improved design for better performance in low light conditions.
The 48MP triple camera system really makes the phone stand out
Specifically, it uses a Sony IMX903 sensor that is 12% larger than the current main sensor used by the iPhone 15 Pro. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro have a 1/1.28-inch sensor, while the iPhone 16 Pro sensor will be 1/1.14 inches.
Anti-reflective lens
One of the most recurring complaints about the iPhone camera will be addressed with the iPhone 16 Pro, as Apple will be equipping the iPhone 16 Pro with a new type of lens to avoid phenomena like flare and reflection - something that seriously affects nighttime videos.
Capture button
This could be a major improvement on the iPhone 16 Pro. Apple is expected to include a new shutter button at the bottom of the right frame that is pressure-sensitive and used to take photos. It will simulate a professional camera shutter button, including focusing and shooting depending on what the user presses. An improvement for better photo and video capture with the iPhone.
