According to the Office of the Hue City People's Committee, the tourism industry has become a bright spot in economic growth, with the number of visitors to Hue estimated at nearly 1.5 million in the first quarter, an increase of 62% over the same period in 2024. Of which, international visitors reached more than 650,000, an increase of nearly 50%, thanks to outstanding cultural events such as the opening ceremony of the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 associated with the Hue Festival.
Revenue from tourism is estimated at over VND2,600 billion, up 53%. Total export turnover reached 318 million USD, up 23%. Meanwhile, imports reached 244.8 million USD, up 13.4%. Total retail sales of goods and social consumer services are estimated at VND15,700 billion, up 18%, reflecting strong consumption.

In addition, Hue's industrial production index (IIP) in the first quarter increased by 16.4% over the same period, far exceeding the 1.2% rate in 2024. The processing and manufacturing industry increased by 14%, with automobile output increasing 14 times, electricity production increasing by 65.2%, and commercial electricity increasing by 7.2%. However, some products such as beer, frozen shrimp, and cement recorded a decrease in output. In agriculture, the rice cultivation area reached 27,903 hectares, ensuring 100% of the plan, with rice growing well thanks to favorable weather. Aquatic product output reached 9,150 tons, up 6.7%, and plantation timber exploitation reached 118,000 m³, equal to 21% of the plan.
Total social investment capital is estimated at VND6,751 billion, up 7%, equal to 18.2% of the plan. The city has granted new licenses to 9 projects and adjusted capital increases for 2 projects with a total capital of nearly VND22,000 billion, including 3 projects with foreign direct investment (FDI) worth 8.7 million USD. Some key projects such as Creanza Quartz Sand Processing Plant, Chan May Logistics Center and Huong River Overpass have been started or technically opened to traffic, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Hue's liberation.
However, the number of newly established enterprises decreased by 14% (176 enterprises, registered capital of VND 1,033 billion), while 465 enterprises temporarily suspended operations, an increase of 74 units over the same period.
The city's state budget revenue in the first quarter was estimated at VND3,520 billion, up 28% over the same period, equal to 28.5% of the estimate. Budget expenditure reached over VND2,097 billion. Of which, development investment expenditure was VND325 billion. Disbursement of public investment capital reached VND1,017.403 billion, equivalent to 23% of the plan, exceeding the national average and putting Hue in the top 10 leading localities.
