- On the afternoon of March 26, the Department of Disease Prevention, Ministry of Health held a meeting to evaluate the progress of the measles vaccination campaign and measures to strengthen vaccination.
The meeting was connected online to the Pasteur Institute Nha Trang, the Tay Nguyen Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City and the Department of Health, Centers for Disease Control of 63 provinces and cities.
At Lang Son bridge point, there are leaders of the Provincial Center for Disease Control, Medical and Pharmaceutical Affairs Department, and Department of Health.
The measles epidemic is currently very complicated in many provinces and cities across the country, with the number of hospitalizations increasing rapidly, mainly children who have not been fully vaccinated against measles.
Implementing the Prime Minister's direction in Official Dispatch No. 23/CD-TTg dated March 15, 2025 on accelerating measles vaccination; based on local needs, the Ministry of Health has developed a plan for measles vaccination in 2025, the second phase, and directed the implementation of catch-up vaccinations for children from 1 to 5 years old who have not received enough doses of measles-containing vaccines.
Based on the direction of the Ministry of Health, the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology has coordinated with relevant units to urgently allocate and transport vaccines in a timely manner to provinces and cities to carry out catch-up vaccinations, catch-up vaccinations for subjects who have not received enough doses, and campaign vaccinations.
In Lang Son, since the beginning of the year, the whole province has recorded 16 cases of rash fever suspected of measles. On March 20, 2025, the Department of Health received over 25,000 doses of vaccine from the Ministry of Health. Based on the actual needs of districts and cities, on March 24 and 25, the Provincial Center for Disease Control allocated to 11/11 districts and cities. After receiving, the Medical Centers of districts and cities quickly deployed catch-up and catch-up vaccinations for children, striving to complete before March 31, 2025.
At the meeting, delegates at the connecting points reported on the implementation of the measles vaccination plan for 2024-2025 in the Northern, Central, Central Highlands and Southern regions. They focused on clarifying the vaccination results, implementation progress, vaccine supply situation, difficulties and obstacles in the implementation process and discussed and found solutions to speed up the vaccination progress.
Speaking at the meeting, the leader of the Department of Disease Prevention, Ministry of Health requested the Department of Health of provinces and cities to review the need for vaccines, especially for children from 6 to 10 years old , to report to the Ministry of Health for timely supplementation, ensuring that no subjects are missed ; strengthen inspection and supervision of vaccination progress, ensure vaccination safety; implement the reporting regime in accordance with regulations; advise and propose the People's Committees of provinces and cities to prioritize resource allocation, promote communication on measles prevention and control in the community, mobilize people to take their children for vaccination to speed up the vaccination progress, and complete the campaign by March 31, 2025.
