The teams spread out mats and sat down to compete in wrapping banh chung right in the central courtyard of Hung Temple. Unlike previous years, this year, the districts, cities and towns will not send teams that have won first prize for three consecutive years to participate in the competition. This also contributes to creating a new, attractive and enthusiastic spirit for the teams with the determination to win high prizes to present offerings to King Hung.
The Banh Chung cooking and wrapping contest had the participation of 13 teams from 13 districts, cities and towns of Phu Tho province.

Banh chung and banh giay - two types of cakes symbolizing "round sky, square earth", are associated with the legendary story about the filial piety of Prince Lang Lieu during the reign of the 6th Hung King. After thousands of years of history, banh chung and banh giay are still preserved intact in shape and flavor by the Vietnamese people to worship their ancestors.
