On May 30, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Pakse (Laos) coordinated with the Steering Committee 515 of Kon Tum province and the Special Working Groups of Champasak, Sekong and Attapeu provinces to organize a ceremony to receive, hand over and send off the remains of 8 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos to Vietnam for burial.

Of the 8 martyrs’ remains brought back to Vietnam this time, 6 were found in Attapeu province, 2 were found in Champasak province. Of these, 1 remains was identified as martyr Doan Thanh Long (from Dien Ban district, Quang Nam province).

The handover and reception ceremony of the 8 martyrs' remains was held solemnly and respectfully. At the handover ceremony, delegates respectfully offered flowers and incense to commemorate and express their deep gratitude to the martyrs who heroically sacrificed for their noble international duty.
After the handover ceremony of 8 martyrs' remains between the Kon Tum Provincial Steering Committee 515 and the Attapeu Provincial Special Working Group, the 8 martyrs' remains were brought back to the country by the Kon Tum Provincial Steering Committee 515 to hold a memorial service and bury them at the martyrs' cemetery in Kon Tum province.
According to the Vietnamese Consulate General in Pakse, the search and collection of martyrs’ remains is a sacred activity that demonstrates the tradition of remembering the source of water, showing gratitude, respect, and deep remembrance of the great contributions of heroic martyrs; gradually meeting the aspirations of relatives, families of martyrs and people nationwide. At the same time, it contributes to educating the revolutionary and patriotic traditions of the people of Vietnam and Laos.
