On the afternoon of April 1, the leader of Dong Xuan district, Phu Yen province, said that on the morning of the same day, a local resident used an excavator to renovate the road leading to the field. While excavating in the area of a large rock, he discovered a set of remains.
In addition to the remains, there are also relics such as nylon clothes, hammocks, 2 bucket hats, and 1 rubber sandal.

Upon receiving the news, the specialized agency of the Phu Yen Provincial Military Command coordinated with relevant units to conduct verification. Thereby, the authorities determined that these were the remains of martyrs.
Authorities have exhumed the remains and brought them to the martyrs' cemetery in Dong Xuan district to carry out burial procedures and to find the martyrs' relatives.
"Tomorrow (April 2), the locality will hold a district-level memorial service and bring the remains to be buried at the martyrs' cemetery in La Hai town," informed the leader of Dong Xuan district.
