Over 25 years of operation, the Association has contributed to mobilizing social resources to support specialized education, care, nurturing, and vocational training for more than 12,000 disabled children in the city.

Practical help
The journey of the Hanoi Association for the Relief of Disabled Children is a journey to gather and mobilize charitable organizations and individuals at home and abroad to support disabled children in difficult circumstances in the city, creating conditions for them to receive health care, treatment and rehabilitation. Through the activities of the Association, children are educated, receive career guidance and vocational training. In particular, they receive spiritual care activities, have the opportunity to live equally and integrate into the community.
The Hope Center - which is taking care of more than 50 children with autism spectrum disorder or brain damage, mental retardation... - is one of the units that regularly receives attention and support from the Hanoi Association for the Relief of Disabled Children.
Director of Hope Center Do Thuy Nga said: “The teachers and students of the Center always receive practical gifts from the Hanoi Association for Relief of Disabled Children and philanthropists, especially on holidays, Tet, commemorating Vietnam Day for People with Disabilities on April 18, International Day for People with Disabilities on December 3, International Children's Day on June 1, Mid-Autumn Festival, Lunar New Year... Along with that, the Association always accompanies us in taking care of children with disabilities, from examination, rehabilitation support, to supporting their families to reduce difficulties in life."
Along with the Hope Center, many units that care for and educate special children such as Xa Dan Secondary School, Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School, Thanh Tri District School for Disabled Children... all have special marks and the support of the Hanoi Association for the Relief of Disabled Children.
According to the Permanent Vice President of the Hanoi Association for the Relief of Disabled Children, Bui Van Tuan, identifying fundraising as a decisive condition for success in all activities, the Association has maintained good community mobilization work, supporting disabled children in many forms. From 2004 to present, the Association has mobilized an average of over 2 billion VND each year.
In particular, in 2024, the Association received nearly 5 billion VND in support (cash and converted goods). In addition, the Association has linked and coordinated with non-governmental organizations to implement projects to support disadvantaged children with disabilities in the area, with funding from the Blue Dragon Children's Organization (Australia), the European-Asian Brotherhood Association (France); DONXA Organization, Kingdom of Belgium... Each year, these projects have assisted hundreds of disabled children and children in difficult circumstances, contributing to creating opportunities for disabled children to receive practical and effective care and assistance to integrate into the community.
Towards the base
For Vice President of the Vietnam Association for the Relief of Disabled Children, President of the Hanoi Association for the Relief of Disabled Children Nguyen Kim Hoang (former Deputy Head of the City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee), the journey of social and charitable work is truly an emotional and meaningful journey. Coming to schools, educational centers, and specialized care centers for disabled children, Mr. Nguyen Kim Hoang not only connects organizations, businesses, and individuals to bring resources to the children, but also regularly contributes personal money to give to the children.
Mr. Nguyen Kim Hoang shared: “Being elected as Chairman of the Hanoi Association for Relief of Disabled Children for the 2022-2027 term is an opportunity for me to continue my involvement in social and charitable work, thereby extending my previous work of more than 40 years, especially in mass mobilization work, contributing to fulfilling the obligations of a Party member, closely attached to the people. Having contributed to playing a good role as a bridge between the City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City and socio-political organizations, I am now happy to continue to promote my experience and efforts to support disabled children, taking care of disadvantaged people in society”.
The valuable thing is that the Association always gathers people who are qualified, have experience in caring for and educating disabled children, have a kind heart, and do not spare time and effort to contribute to the development of the Association.
Promoting the results achieved over 25 years of construction and development, in the coming time, Mr. Nguyen Kim Hoang said: “In the immediate future, we will continue to maintain traditional projects and funding sources, while increasing the search and development of new projects and funding sources. Along with that, we will promote the organization of grassroots activities, focusing on specific goals in health care, rehabilitation for children with disabilities, cultural education, vocational training, and activities to ensure the spiritual life of children with disabilities”.
