Information from the Ministry of Education and Training on May 31 said that on the same day, the Ministry received information about the official results of the Vietnam National Team participating in the Asian Informatics Olympiad (APIO) 2024 hosted by China (apio2024.org).
The Vietnamese national team has 100% of contestants winning prizes, including: 1 Gold Medal, 6 Silver Medals (in 2023, Vietnam won 4 Silver Medals, 3 Bronze Medals).
Specifically, the students who won the prize in 2024 are as follows:
Pham Cong Minh, 12th grade student, High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Hanoi): Gold Medal.
Pham Ngoc Trung, 12th grade student, High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Hanoi): Silver Medal.
Nguyen Tuan Linh, 12th grade student, High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Hanoi): Silver Medal.
Nguyen Huu Tuan, 10th grade student, High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Hanoi): Silver Medal.
Nguyen Tung Lam, 12th grade student, Tran Phu High School for the Gifted (Hai Phong City): Silver Medal.
Hoang Xuan Bach, 11th grade student, High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Hanoi): Silver Medal.
Tran Gia Huy, 12th grade student, High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Hanoi): Silver Medal.
The 18th Asian Informatics Olympiad was held from May 18 to May 19, 2024 with the participation of 35 delegations from countries and territories, 286 candidates were proposed for awards.
Through evaluation, this year's APIO exam is updated according to the international Olympic trend with new types of questions such as interaction and communication.
The Ministry of Education and Training said that for each test, the Vietnamese student delegation had candidates who achieved the maximum score, which shows that Vietnamese students have been fully equipped with knowledge and thinking skills equal to the top students in the region. The Vietnamese delegation achieved the highest score of 240/300.
The Vietnamese national team, consisting of 15 contestants, took the exam online at the University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
According to the regulations of the Organizing Committee of the Asia Pacific Olympiad in Informatics, Vietnam was selected to select 7 candidates with the highest scores to participate in the award consideration.
Overall results of the whole delegation, the Vietnam Informatics Olympic Team ranked 6th after the countries: China, Russia, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong (China), .... and affirmed its leading position among countries in the Southeast Asian region.
Based on the exam results, APIO will select 4 candidates to participate in the National Team to compete in the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) 2024 in Egypt from September 1 to September 8, 2024.
