On October 20, the Vietnam-USA Society English System (VUS) officially launched the Study Abroad Consulting Program, providing comprehensive and professional study abroad consulting services to help Vietnamese students best prepare for their study journey in countries with advanced education systems. This is a testament to VUS's strong commitment to accompanying the young generation of Vietnam to reach out to the world.
As a country with many universities ranked in the top of the world university rankings, the US is always the top choice for young people studying abroad today. According to information from the US Embassy, 21,900 Vietnamese students are studying at US universities and colleges, an increase of 5.7% in the 2022-2023 school year. This number has helped Vietnam rank 5th in the number of students studying in the US.
However, the path to study abroad in the United States is increasingly limited. At the same time, with the current trend of studying abroad in the US increasing, if young people do not have a well-invested and prepared study abroad plan from an early age, the opportunity to enroll and receive a scholarship will be even more difficult.
Understanding the reality of the need to study abroad as well as the admission requirements in the current context, VUS organized an event to launch the Study Abroad Consulting program with the message "Complete package for studying in the US" to demonstrate VUS's mission of wanting to bring a different and complete study abroad consulting experience.
The event started with the sharing of the latest information on US Student Visa policies in 2024 and 2025 from Ms. Kim Ngan - Senior Specialist in Processing US Student Visa Applications. In addition to a perfect study abroad application, visa interviews also play an important role in the first steps of studying abroad. At the event, listeners not only updated information on the latest visa policies but also could experience a Visa Interview with an expert.
The highlight and most noticed by parents and young people in the seminar was the sharing session about strategies for building scholarship profiles from grade 9 to grade 10. How should a scholarship application profile be built from grade 9? What are the special points to get the highest scholarship? All were answered in detail by Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Tam - Southeast Asia Regional Director of Leap Gee Bee Education.
She also noted that the big plus points for building a profile are that you should start from grade 9 and make sure your grades increase gradually each year; that you participate in selective extracurricular activities; and that letters of recommendation from teachers are the biggest unique points that make a strong impression in the eyes of top schools in the US. There have been cases where applications to "Top brand" schools in the US have been "saved" by prestigious letters of recommendation from teachers.
At the same time, she also mentioned a real case of an international student who received a full scholarship from a Top 7 university in the US and did a personal project of "filtering listening" from grade 9 to grade 12. Although it was simply just sitting and listening to other students' stories, the project brought about a better positive effect for them. And it was the project that motivated him to study abroad in psychology and get a full scholarship from his favorite university.
In addition, understanding the IELTS certificate entry requirements at schools around the world, VUS is committed to providing an IELTS program that meets the requirements for studying abroad. VUS is a Platinum partner of the British Council for two consecutive years 2023-2024, along with long-standing experience and reputation in IELTS test preparation, helping to form VUS's distinct advantages in building a study abroad consulting program.
Ms. Le Thu (living in District 3) shared: "My child has been studying at VUS since grade 3, and is currently in the IELTS preparation class. Now that VUS has added a study abroad consulting service, it is even more convenient. After the exchange seminar and my child's interview with the school representative, the family has a clearer understanding of the necessary preparations and the journey to study in the US. My child also sets a goal of trying to get a scholarship from the school he likes to help his parents with tuition fees."
In addition, VUS Study Abroad introduced the "In-State Tuition" policy solution to help Vietnamese students have the opportunity to pay tuition fees like a native American student, with an optimal level of up to 70% of the cost of studying abroad and many support related costs such as consulting, application submission, IELTS test and airfare. At the event, students have the opportunity to interview directly with the admissions board from American universities and win scholarships of up to 80%.
