As a locality with many famous tourist areas and spots and many spring festivals, in the first days of 2024, Hoa Lu district welcomed hundreds of thousands of tourists to visit, worship, attend festivals and use local accommodation services. Therefore, food safety work has been and is being strengthened by localities and units of the district to ensure the health of people and tourists.
Khe Thuong village (Ninh Xuan commune) is home to many accommodation and food service establishments serving tourists. During the peak season of the spring festival, the number of visitors visiting, worshiping and attending the festival increases compared to other times of the year, which is a favorable opportunity for local people to boost their business activities, create more jobs for local workers, and increase revenue. Tung Dung restaurant is also an establishment that attracts many tourists to eat and enjoy local cuisine.
Mr. Luu Ba Tung, the restaurant owner, said: Living in a homeland with great tourism potential is an opportunity for us to develop production and business. Therefore, since opening the restaurant, we have always determined to ensure the best service quality, to be an address that visitors want to return to next time. Therefore, ensuring food safety is closely monitored by the restaurant from the stage of importing raw materials, preserving, processing to environmental sanitation, etc.
With nearly 40 tables arranged on 2 floors, Tung Dung restaurant normally arranges 7 workers to serve all stages, but in the peak months at the beginning of the year, the number of customers doubles, the restaurant mobilizes about 10 more workers. Although there are times when there are many customers, the restaurant still meets the needs of tourists on the basis of strictly complying with the provisions of the law on food safety to ensure that all tourists coming to the restaurant are satisfied with the quality of the dishes as well as ensuring food safety conditions.

Vinh Bao Restaurant (Thien Ton town) operates a food service with 16 tables, which can accommodate more than 100 tourists at the same time, and is always crowded with visitors at the beginning of the year. Mr. Trinh Dao Trong, the restaurant owner, said: During the implementation of food service business activities, the restaurant always receives attention and inspection from interdisciplinary teams, from the Hoa Lu District Medical Center, and Thien Ton town in ensuring food safety. This is necessary to help the restaurant always comply with food safety regulations, better meeting the culinary needs of tourists.
According to the restaurant owner, due to the nature of the food service business with country dishes, the food source must always be fresh and delicious to be trusted by customers. Therefore, the food source is imported daily from licensed establishments; food preservation is carefully packaged and wrapped in freezers; the food processing process, food processors, and restaurant staff are all given regular health check-ups according to regulations...
Together with the food safety inspection team of Hoa Lu District Medical Center, they inspected food service establishments in the district at the beginning of spring. Through the inspection, it was found that most of the establishments were aware of complying with the state's regulations on food safety: having full documents and administrative procedures on food safety according to regulations; the conditions of facilities, equipment, tools and human resources basically met the requirements; most of the pre-packaged foods had labels and were within the expiry date; raw foods were guaranteed to be fresh or refrigerated; additives in the list permitted by the Ministry of Health were used to produce and process food... In particular, rapid testing of some food samples, bowls and chopsticks used at restaurants showed that all samples met the requirements.

According to statistics, currently in Hoa Lu district, there are more than 3,600 commercial and service establishments, more than 500 restaurants and hotels in operation. To put food safety work into order, the interdisciplinary and specialized inspection teams of the district and commune have followed the correct procedures, conducted inspections combined with propaganda work on food safety, contributing to raising knowledge and awareness of compliance with state documents on food safety.
During the Lunar New Year and the spring festival season of 2024, the district organized 24 interdisciplinary inspection teams, inspected 72 facilities at both district and commune levels, and found no violations; rapid testing of 104 samples, 100% of samples met requirements...
According to comrade Nguyen Ngoc Phu, Deputy Director of Hoa Lu District Medical Center: The inspection results of interdisciplinary and specialized inspection teams show that food service establishments in the district have strictly complied with regulations on food safety, considering it a prerequisite to attract and retain tourists.
With the goal of ensuring the safety of domestic and foreign tourists when visiting the area during the spring, Hoa Lu district continues to maintain the activities of interdisciplinary and specialized inspection teams on food safety before, during and after the Lunar New Year and the spring festival season. In particular, the spring festival will focus on localities with a large number of tourists and many accommodation activities such as: Truong Yen, Ninh Xuan... to strengthen the inspection and control of food safety.
