Coach Popov praised his students for their efforts.
The Bulgarian strategist added: "I cannot ask for more from the players. Thanh Hoa Club is a very normal team. You can see on the bench, how Thanh Hoa Club has reserve players, and how Hanoi is. That is the difference."
When asked about Van Quyet's performance, coach Popov commented: "I don't have much to say about Van Quyet. He is the best player in the past 10 years in Vietnam. Every coach wants him in the squad."
Coach Daiki Iwamasa of Hanoi FC also praised Van Quyet for his brilliant performance: "Van Quyet is the captain, and also a very important link in the current playing style of Hanoi FC. Coach Daiki Iwamasa shared more about the philosophy he wants to build: "I can't say anything about the title race, but I understand that the real battle will start next season. As for the playing style, I understand that it takes a lot of time to build and consolidate. I will use the matches, whether winning or losing, to draw out the points needed to build the playing style. It may only take 3, 4 months, but it may also take 1, 2 years to build a playing style that does not depend on long balls, to play in short combinations.
There will be times when players are confused with new playing styles, in difficult situations. Creating such playing styles is extremely difficult, different from purer, simpler playing styles. I alone cannot change it, but it also requires the will and effort of the players. For example, in the first half, there were times when the Hanoi team did not play well. At that time, if I told them not to make mistakes, they would choose to play long balls.
However, during the match, they conveyed good information, how to break down Thanh Hoa's defense. As a coach, I have to patiently wait for them to mature, observe and motivate them. We will do it step by step. Since I took the coaching seat, we have lost to Thanh Hoa, Nam Dinh and The Cong Viettel. Today, Hanoi team won against Thanh Hoa.
