On the evening of October 13, compared to the loss to China, the Vietnamese team could not demonstrate ball control in the match against Uzbekistan and accepted a 0-2 loss on the field in Dalian, China.
After the match, coach Philippe Troussier still pointed out some points that made him satisfied with his players, and affirmed that the whole team is working hard to gradually improve themselves.
Coach Philippe Troussier shared: "As you can see, Uzbekistan is strong. We just faced an opponent much stronger than the Vietnamese team.
Before the match, I told the players that our goal was to focus on organizing our defense well without the ball.
Especially in these matches, we have to focus more on perfecting and doing well in defensive control and open situations."
Despite the convincing defeat, coach Philippe Troussier was also satisfied with the Vietnamese team. He said: "The three opponents of the Vietnamese team this October are all stronger than us. In addition, the Vietnamese team has to play away.
I am satisfied with the system's synchronization and the players' concentration. However, I am not satisfied with the times when the team had to make a transition from no-ball to ball-play to counter-attack, as well as a few times when the ball was misplaced and the opponent won it back."
The French strategist added: "The players all tried their best, both in training and in competition. The three matches of the Vietnam team this October were not easy. The team lost the last two matches and now we have a few days to rest, recover, learn from experience, and prepare best for the match against Korea."
This afternoon (October 14), coach Philippe Troussier and his team traveled from China to Korea, having 3 training sessions to prepare for the match against the Korean team on October 17. This is a highly anticipated match, but it will also be the most difficult match for Hung Dung and his teammates because Korea is at a very high level.
Coach Philippe Troussier concluded: "Against our opponents Korea, we need to improve and further strengthen our defensive organization in open situations. Against strong teams like Uzbekistan or Korea, I think the team can only control 30-35% of the ball.
The rest of the time without the ball must be well-organized defensively. The match against Uzbekistan was a good test for the whole team to understand that the difficulty of the next match is even higher.
