The four facades of Ben Thanh Market (District 1) have been repainted in the same main color as before. The repainting helps to remove degraded and moldy areas.
Ben Thanh Market is located in the central area of Ho Chi Minh City, between Phan Boi Chau - Phan Chu Trinh - Le Thanh Ton - Quach Thi Trang Square streets. In front of the market is Ben Thanh station of Metro No. 1 with a scale of 4 underground floors. On the occasion of Tet 2023, the market was brightly decorated by the management board with a spacious space in front of the main gate, attracting a large number of people and tourists to visit, shop, and take photos. At the end of April 2023, the four facades of Ben Thanh Market were restored to their original state, with the main color being cream, helping to eliminate degraded and moldy areas after a long period of use. Speaking to Lao Dong, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Lan - Deputy Head of Ben Thanh Market Management Board said: "The funding source comes from socialized sources and the participation of small traders. The Management Board also plans to install an additional artistic lighting system at night at the market in the near future, to create a highlight and attract visitors to the city center at night." Pictures of the city and tourist attractions are also hung around the market. The ceramic reliefs also had their frames repainted, but the original motifs of the reliefs were kept. The market became more vibrant after being renovated. Ms. Hong Nhung (living in District 1) shared: "I see that the new paint helps the market become brighter, it stands out from afar. The market is repainted in the same old color, I am very happy." Ben Thanh Market was renovated and repaired in mid-1985. Early last year, TA Landscape Company proposed to renovate Ben Thanh Market by re-roofing the roof with heat-insulating tiles, replacing the old degraded imitation tile layer; redesigning the ventilation doors to ensure ventilation for the interior space; replacing the floor tiles... Ben Thanh Market was started to be built in 1912. After more than 100 years of existence and development, the market still retains the original architecture. The market sells clothing, fabrics, shoes, fashion, handicrafts, fresh food, fruits, fresh flowers...
