This morning (March 28), at the Presidential Palace, President Luong Cuong chaired the state welcoming ceremony for Brazilian President Lula da Silva.

At the invitation of President Luong Cuong, Brazilian President Lula da Silva arrived in Hanoi, starting a State visit to Vietnam from March 27-29.

The car carrying President of the Federative Republic of Brazil Luiz Lula da Silva arrives at the Presidential Palace (Hanoi). This is Mr. Lula da Silva's second visit to Vietnam after 17 years since his visit in 2008.

The two leaders stepped onto the podium, while military bands played the national anthems of the two countries.

After the welcoming ceremony, President Luong Cuong and Brazilian President Lula da Silva reviewed the honor guard.

The two leaders took a photo together at the Presidential Palace. President Lula da Silva has deep affection and admiration for Vietnam, and once took to the streets to support Vietnam in the struggle for national liberation.

Immediately afterwards, President Luong Cuong and President Lula da Silva led high-ranking delegations from the two countries to hold talks, assessing the results of cooperation between the two countries in recent times and proposing directions for cooperation in the future.

The visit of Brazilian President Lula da Silva is expected to open up new cooperation opportunities between Vietnam and Brazil in potential areas such as renewable energy, manufacturing and processing industry, high-tech agriculture, biofuel, security - defense, education - training and climate change response.

Currently, Brazil is Vietnam's largest trading partner in Latin America. Two-way trade turnover in 2024 will reach nearly 8 billion USD, accounting for 34.8% of Vietnam's total trade turnover in Latin America.
