To make his dream come true is a long process, with many difficulties and hardships, but with determination, passion and persistent efforts to train, he became a jet pilot and achieved many successes on the chosen path.
Living near Da Nang Airport, since high school, watching military planes flying and practicing in the sky and local TV stations announcing pilot recruitment rounds, Quang took the initiative to learn and soon ignited a dream in himself "to fly in the sky of his homeland". Therefore, when he was in 12th grade, there was a military pilot recruitment round at Division 372, Quang registered and successfully passed the examination with strict health checks.

In September 2013, Nguyen Hoang Hai Quang enrolled at the Air Force Officer School. The years of studying and training at the school were truly a useful time for Quang to accumulate knowledge and improve his health. On February 18, 2016, Quang sat on an IaK-52 aircraft for the first time on a flight over Cam Ranh. At that time, he had an indescribable feeling of elation and loved the pilot profession even more. In August 2019, Quang graduated with a good degree, completing his flight outline on two types of aircraft: IaK-52 and L-39.
After that, he was transferred to Regiment 925, Division 372 to work. Here, Quang continued to receive training in conversion flying on the Su-27 aircraft. This is a modern aircraft, with many outstanding features, especially fast maneuverability, carrying many modern weapons and combat equipment. With high determination, diligence, and perseverance in studying, Nguyen Hoang Hai Quang quickly mastered this type of aircraft, and was able to fly solo on April 20, 2021. Currently, Quang has approached most of the flight lessons on the Su-27, completed the day and night flight program, simple and complex movements, the day and night rear cabin instructor training program; approved for meteorological reconnaissance flights, test flights to check aircraft, command takeoffs and landings during the day and night, and approved for technical flight instructors to apply combat applications during the day and night on land and at sea...
Having held various positions and responsibilities as a Pilot, Squadron Leader, Deputy Squadron Leader and Chief of Staff of the Squadron, and being awarded the rank of Level 2 Pilot (early 2024); in addition to his duty of being on standby to protect the airspace of the Central Highlands, he is currently an instructor training young pilots. To date, Quang has guided and taught 3 young pilots to complete the outline of combat duty on land and at sea during the day, 2 pilots have conducted solo flights and completed 80% of the training outline.
Talking to us, Quang confided: “The important thing for a pilot is to have good health, high professional qualifications, and a stable mentality. Therefore, I have set specific goals for each stage, such as: Regarding training, in the first days of studying at the Air Force Officer School, all physical fitness indicators must be good or better, and before flying, many subjects must be excellent”. Now, Quang is good at all physical fitness subjects and always ranks first in the entire Squadron.
In his studies, he always took advantage of the maximum time to study aviation technology and aircraft operating instructions; at the same time, he studied on the basis of firmly grasping and understanding each flight lesson and each system on the aircraft, skillfully using the switches and buttons on the cockpit; constantly consolidating and improving his flying skills. In addition, he actively studied navigation theory, regularly practiced on the sand table, mastered the data of flight lessons, how to approach the airport, studied meteorology, handled situations when the weather turned bad... Whatever content Quang learned, he practiced right away. Whenever he did not understand, he took the opportunity to ask his teacher, discuss with colleagues and assistants of the aviation technical staff to better understand the systems on the aircraft, thereby knowing how to handle unexpected events, ensuring safe flights.
In terms of character, Quang always takes the initiative to do a good job of his own ideological and psychological work, on the basis of doing exactly what his teacher taught him, performing the movements in the correct order, being confident in his professional level and constantly accumulating experience in each flight lesson, flight class... With this effective method, Quang has taught and passed on knowledge and experience to young pilots in the Regiment very effectively.
With great efforts and determination, up to now, Captain Nguyen Hoang Hai Quang has had nearly 650 flight hours, participating in bombing ground targets at TB-2 Shooting Range and sea targets (TB-5) in 2022 organized by Division 372 with excellent results, receiving a certificate of merit. In 2023, he won first prize at the navigation competition organized by Division 372; won third prize for all-round pilot at the Air Force navigation competition organized by the Ministry of National Defense; for 4 consecutive years (2021-2024), he was a grassroots Emulation Fighter, a Party member who excellently completed his tasks, and was awarded a certificate of merit by the Ministry of National Defense in 2023.
