(Dan Tri) - TikTok has officially stopped operating in the US since today, January 19 (US time). Hundreds of millions of users have expressed regret when this social network was closed.
TikTok and Capcut stop operating in the US
Today, January 19, is the final day for ByteDance to completely divest from the TikTok application and sell the management rights of this application to a legal entity in the US, otherwise TikTok will be banned from operating in the US.
However, up to this point, ByteDance still cannot find a suitable legal entity to sell TikTok's management rights, causing the application to stop operating in the US.

Many users in the US when accessing the TikTok application will receive the message: "Sorry, TikTok is currently unavailable.
A law has been passed in the United States to ban TikTok. Unfortunately, this means you can't use TikTok at this time. We're fortunate that President Trump has said he will work with us to find a way to restore TikTok when he returns to office. Stay tuned for more information!"
TikTok's announcement shows that the social network's management still believes that President-elect Donald Trump will find a solution to reverse the ban, allowing TikTok to operate again in the US.
Notably, in addition to TikTok, another application owned by ByteDance, Capcut, has also been suspended in the US since today.
The reason why Capcut cannot continue to be used in the US is similar to TikTok, which is that ByteDance cannot find a suitable legal entity to resell the management rights of this application.
Currently, users in the US also cannot find TikTok and Capcut on the two app stores Google Play for Android and App Store for iOS.
Hundreds of millions of US users regret TikTok's shutdown
With more than 170 million users, TikTok is one of the largest social networks in the US. TikTok has become a tool for entertainment or making money for many users in this country, especially young people.
After TikTok was closed, the group of users who felt the most regret were content creators, who regularly created content and earned income from this social networking platform.
For ordinary users, TikTok's closure in the US also causes them to lose a platform to connect with friends and especially a tool for entertainment, as short content on TikTok often has a lot of entertainment that attracts young people.

On other social media platforms such as Facebook, X, Threads, etc., many users in the US have expressed regret at not being able to continue using TikTok. Some people said they had to find ways to use virtual private network (VPN) applications in the hope of being able to continue accessing and using TikTok.
Large businesses that regularly invest in advertising on TikTok in the US are also urgently looking for new marketing strategies and redirecting their advertising budgets to other social networking platforms such as Facebook, Instagram or YouTube...
However, there are still some Internet users in the US who support the decision to ban TikTok on the grounds that this social network affects national security. They believe that personal data and national security are more important than a social networking platform that is only for entertainment.
Some people also think that banning TikTok could help reduce young people's dependence on social media.
However, the ban on TikTok in the US is not yet final. President-elect Donald Trump may extend the ban to give ByteDance more time to find a suitable legal entity to sell TikTok, allowing the social network to return to the US.
